I thought it was done…until it wasn’t. Framed and ready to hang, something kept telling me, get back to it! It can be so much better! Here is the result, and now I can exhibit this painting at the summer Festival of Arts with pride and confidence. You can see it in person at Booth 79, my summer home from July 7 through September 3. As one of the nation’s longest-running and most respected juried fine art exhibitions, the Festival of Arts/Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach was recently named by USA Today as one of the Top 10 Art Festivals in the United States.

This year, I have received a special honor: two of my paintings were selected to appear on the exclusive ticket faces for the Festival’s VIP Opening Night celebration. Having artwork chosen to represent one of the Festival’s signature events is a meaningful distinction within an already highly respected exhibition and reflects the recognition my work has earned within this celebrated artistic community. I am both humbled and grateful for this acknowledgment.

Congratulations to ISEA artist Lynn Welker for the artwork “Wish Keepers” in ISEA’s 2026 “Making Our Marks,” Annual All-Member Virtual Exhibition.

A commitment to abstraction and innovation is fundamental to my innate style of art-making. Painting thought-provoking, invented landscapes and various mind-bending works that challenge the viewer's eye is what excites me. "Wish Keepers" developed when I was sorting through a collection of saved turkey and chicken wishbones. I liked combining man-made materials like acrylic paint and stretched canvas with actual animal skeletal parts. Hand-painted collage papers were added behind each wishbone to emphasize the actual bones as opposed to the painted-on smaller bones. Silhouettes of "Keepers" linger on the side while watching over fragments scattered about.

Did you know I love to paint on 300 # watercolor paper? Even though I prefer canvas for large-scale works, the natural quality of acid-free paper enhanced with a variety of hand-painted collage papers encourages different and thoughtful results.
