We would like to congratulate band member David Sanders for receiving the John C. McManus Distinguished Teacher Award at the OMEA conference last month! This award is to honor those with a life-time of service to music education with a highly distinguished record of professional accomplishment. We are incredibly proud of his accomplishments and commend his service to the field.

David has been a member of the Newberg Community Band since 2007 primarily on saxophone (though he has been known to join other sections at times), and also serves as an associate conductor. We are lucky to have him in our ranks!

We had such a wonderful weekend performing at OMEA! There were lots of friendly faces in the crowd, and many of us were able to connect with music educators across the state. We truly appreciate all of your kind words!

Special thank you’s to Dave Matthys who captured this fabulous photo from our performance, and to Richard Elliott who has led us to where we are.

We are thrilled and honored to announce that we have been selected to represent both Newberg and Adult Community Bands across the state at Oregon Music Education Association's annual All-State Conference this weekend. We have been working hard to prepare for this performance and are all grateful for this amazing opportunity!

For any who happen to find themselves in Eugene this Saturday, January 17th, we invite you to come see our free performance in the Soreng Theater at the Hult Center. We will be sharing our performance hour with Judson Middle School who will begin at 1:45 PM; we will follow their performance at approximately 2:30 PM. We would love to see some familiar faces!

We would also like to thank both the Austin Family Foundation and an additional Anonymous Donor for their contributions toward making this performance a reality. The support from our community means the world to us.

Tomorrow night. We hope you can join us for an evening of music that recognizes Honor, Heart, and Veterans.

WOW ... what an amazing week of concerts the Newberg Community Band had last week. We started out under the tent at Memorial Park with our largest NOOF audience ever on Sunday and wrapped up the week on the lawn at Friendsview Manor on Thursday. It was fun looking out and seeing people in the main lawn, on little patches of grass surrounding the FVM entrance and overlooking from the balconies. We couldn't have asked for better weather or better audiences. We have so much fun preparing, and sharing our passion with you. The next time you will see us will be in the newly renovated Baumann Auditorium on November 6, mark your calendars now and plan on joining us for an "Americana evening".

"Blessed are the flexible for they shall not be bent out of shape." These are words spoken frequently by the Maestro Richard Elliott. Please note the location change of the July 31 concert. It WILL NOT be at the GFU amphitheater. Instead it is being moved to the tree grove and lawn of Sutton Terrace at the main entrance to Friendsview Manor (you will still be able to park in the GFU parking lot and walk across the street). So bring a lawn chair and enjoy a great evening of fun music. Excited to see you there.

It's time for another great Family Night concert. There will be marching, dancing, silliness, and a movie favorite for the kids ... but you'll have to attend to find out who it is.
Hope to see you there.

Newberg Community Band is on the road today to play our “Casey At The Bat” concert for the communities of Tillamook county at Nestucca HS. Some of us are on a charter bus; some people are working on their computers, some napping, others reading or just enjoying the fall colors of the drive. Then there are percussion players.

Mark your calendars for our opening concert of the 2024/25 season. In this concert we will wrapping up the MLB World series by featuring "Casey at the Bat", narrated by Bob Knowles. And if baseball is not your thing and you would rather here a Latin-inspired alto saxophone solo then "Pequena Czarda" featuring Michael Smith is the song for you.

With the recent financial shortcomings experienced in the Newberg School District the performing arts programs have been hit particularly hard, at all schools. There is a great need for piano tunings, instrument repairs, mouthpiece replacements for the rentals, music purchases, festival fees, music supplies needed at the grade schools, and the list continues. We will be using this concert to highlight these needs and support our performing arts teachers by giving our audience members the opportunity to donate financially to help our teachers and students. We hope that through your enjoyment of OUR music you realize that we don't get to this place without supporting our teachers and students and will be able to donate generously.

We look forward to seeing you.
