Reclaiming Vietnam Determined to face her demons, she goes to volunteer in Vietnam... A young woman arrives in the homeland of her father.

Growing up with a white mother and a Vietnamese father, Kim spent years wishing away her father’s less-than-desirable immigrant status, skin color and all the painful family secrets. Vietnam represents a part of her identity she has rejected for most of her life, wishing to be seen as an American (like her Caucasian mother) and not Vietnamese. A spontaneous moonlight ride on a motorbike ends in a crash and old memories surface. The play alternates between her present-day search for identity in Vietnam and flashbacks to her attempts to confront her personal history. Each experience strengthens her resolve to speak the truth and in the process, reclaim what was lost.

I'm excited to be performing my solo show, Reclaiming Vietnam as a fundraiser on September 7th at 6pm, at Jalopy Theatre and School of Music in Brooklyn. The show was encouraged and directed by the one and only Elizabeth Browning. Our previous show in the spring raised a nice amount of money for a very good cause! I am gearing up for my next live performance of Reclaiming Vietnam at the Jalopy Theatre and School of Music on Saturday, April 27th at 2pm and I would love to see you there!

The show is a fundraiser for Inviolate Initiative (a project of the Center for Transformative Action, a 501(c)3 organization) which helps to pay for psychological evaluations for immigrant survivors of domestic abuse and human trafficking.
