I didn’t believe in ghosts… until last month.
It started like any normal night.
I was alone in my apartment, scrolling my phone, half-watching a random YouTube video. Around 11:40 PM, the power flickered once—but didn’t go out. I remember it clearly because my fan slowed down for a second, then went back to normal.
I ignored it.
A few minutes later, I heard something small… like a soft knock.
*Tap… tap…*
I paused the video.
Silence.
I thought maybe it was my neighbor. The walls are thin. Sounds travel.
So I played the video again.
Then it came back.
*Tap… tap… tap.*
This time, it was closer. Not from the wall.
From my bedroom door.
I laughed it off. “Probably the wood expanding,” I told myself. Old apartment, cheap doors.
Still… I got up and opened it.
Nothing.
The hallway light was off. Just darkness stretching to the kitchen.
I stood there for a few seconds, feeling stupid for even checking. Then I closed the door and went back to bed.
That’s when things got… wrong.
My phone suddenly lost signal. No Wi-Fi. No data. Just… gone.
And then I heard it again.
*Tap… tap…*
But this time…
It wasn’t on the door.
It was behind me.
On the wall… right next to my bed.
Slow. Deliberate.
Like someone was on the other side… trying to get my attention.
I froze.
I live on the 6th floor.
There is no “other side” of that wall.
My heart started racing. I didn’t move. Didn’t even breathe properly.
Then the tapping stopped.
For a moment, everything was completely silent.
Too silent.
And then…
A whisper.
Very close to my ear.
“Open… the door…”
I jumped up so fast I almost fell. I turned on the lights—every single one in the room.
Nothing.
No one.
The wall was just a wall.
The door was still closed.
I didn’t sleep that night.
The next morning, I told myself it was stress. Maybe I imagined it. Maybe my brain was playing tricks.
Until I checked my phone.
At exactly 11:47 PM—right when I heard the whisper—a voice recording had been created.
I don’t remember recording anything.
My hands were shaking when I pressed play.
At first, there was just static.
Then…
*Tap… tap…*
And a few seconds later, my own voice.
Clear as day.
Saying:
“Come in.”
