Last day of Second Nature 🖼️ Today's the final day to see Spencer Patrick and Gwen Yip's work at Collective Z — we're open until 6pm, so come say goodbye before it comes down. Missed your chance to visit? Works remain available for a short time after the show closes — reach out to inquire.

28/08/2026

No one in this room will meet your gaze.
Spencer Patrick’s figures sit eyes closed, deep in private ritual. Gwen Yip’s riders face away, caught mid-passage on the New York subway. Stand behind them long enough and you become another back in the crowd.
Private ritual, public passage — one day left.

SECOND NATURE closes tomorrow, Saturday, August 29.
Collective Z · 325 Broome Street, 1W, Lower East Side
Open 1 - 6 PM.
DM to place a work before it comes off the wall.

“Why does it cost that much?” is the question everyone thinks and nobody asks.

This week we’re answering it: what an art price is actually made of, why it’s the same for every buyer, and where the money really goes. About half goes straight to the artist. The rest keeps a physical door open on an actual street — so the next show can happen.

№ 03 of The Monday Collector — a weekly guide to buying art, minus the gatekeeping, from Collective Z Gallery + Camp Z — Art Fair & Limited Drops. New every Monday.

What price question should we take on next?

Last week to see Second Nature. The closeness mixed with loneliness in urban life. DM to inquire a piece that catches your eye.

Nobody in these paintings will look at you.

Spencer Patrick builds psychologically charged spaces out of artificial symbols — the ones we actually live inside now.

Do you see yourself in any of them?

Two weeks left. Second Nature closes August 29.

Collecting starts at $2,000. Works and pricing at qr.collectivez.com

What’s next at Collective Z?

Our Fall / Winter 2026 season moves from the subconscious to the deeply personal, from surrealist group exhibition to three distinct solo presentations — and closes with Small Hours, our year-end group exhibition.

Gwen Yip has been painting the backs in the subways for 14 years. Physical closeness, psychological distance.

Come experience it before the exhibition closes on August 29.

See you at 325 Broome Street.

“Why garments — and not faces?”
The question people ask most often in the gallery. Haleh Atabeigi (Haleh Atabeigi) answers it.
Conviction is an homage to the women held in Iran’s political prisons. Haleh paints what they wore rather than who they were — the garment empty of its wearer, and charged with her absence.
“They represent all women. These women don’t just fight for themselves — they are fighting for freedom for all women.”
Ten large-scale garment paintings, twenty-seven small works painted from objects made inside Evin prison, and a fifteen-minute film.
Through August 1. Wed–Sat, 1–6 PM. 325 Broome Street, NYC.

Fatemeh Sepehri.

A political dissident from Mashhad and the widow of an Iran–Iraq War soldier. A devout Shia Muslim, she became one of the state's most fearless critics — and an open opponent of compulsory hijab. In 2019 she signed the 'Statement of the 14,' an open letter that directly called for Ali Khamenei to step down.

She remains imprisoned in Vakilabad, gravely ill and repeatedly denied medical leave.

Fatemeh, acrylic on canvas, 48 × 30 in, 2025. Swipe to read her story → DM to inquire. Closes August 1.
