Above and Beyond Dance was created to explore the untapped potential in the fusion of dance and circus arts work, generating possibilities beyond the traditional spectacle of circus while expanding upon the choreographic range of dance. The company has successfully presented four seasons of circus-infused dance: "Dreamscapes and Other Imaginings" (2014) at The Muse Brooklyn; "RAW" (2011) at Manha
ttan Movement & Arts Center; "Ascendance" (2009) at The Flea Theater; and "Seeking" (2008) at Kumble Theater for the Performing Arts. Group works have also been presented in the New York area at venues including: Dixon Place; The Muse, Brooklyn; Streb Lab for Action Mechanics; Output Club (Raw Artists Showcase, Brooklyn); NYC Aerial Dance Festival 2011 (MMAC and LaGuardia Performing Arts Center); NYC Aerial Dance Festival 2010 (JCC Theater); Brooklyn Arts eXchange; La Mama Moves Festival 2009; Spoke the Hub; WaxWorks; and The Zipper Theater. Solo aerial dance work has been presented at Dzul International Dance Festival (Campeche, Mexico) in 2019; Detroit Dance City Festival in (2017 and 2018); Harbourfront Centre (Toronto); Inwood Art Works' Culture Hub; The Deep End (Cat's Eye Cabaret); The Muse, Brooklyn; Dixon Place; Streb Lab for Action Mechanics; Galapagos ArtSpace; The House of Yes; and The Belt Theater. Artistic Director, Chriselle Tidrick was a Spring 2014 Guest Artist in Dance at George Washington University where she set two sections of the company's aerial dance work RAW on student dancers. The company's most recent film project is "The Limits of Escape" (2020) created by Chriselle Tidrick in collaboration with filmmaker/director Roy Szuper and featuring music by composer/violinist Daniel Roumain.
