Since the opening of our original Midtown venue in 1989, our East Village location in 2018, and our newest venue on the UWS in 2024, New York Comedy Club has become the only comedy club in the country to have three stages in the same city under one name. We’ve been at the heart of the New York comedy scene for more than three decades, and remain dedicated to the work, to the talent, to the community, and to preserving the exhilarating “anything can happen” vibe that is unique to live comedy.

Meet the staff!

Our Stool boasts a decades-long career built on service — truly a pillar of the New York comedy community. Born and raised in IKEA, the Stool has seen it all. He’s been with us since the very beginning, when the first club opened in 1989. “You could say I’ve always had a seat at the head of the table, even though there is no table.” What’s his favorite part of the job? “The stability.” Outside of work? “I like to bake pastries. Thinking of opening a spot. Want a sample?” And when it comes to comedy preferences? “I’ll laugh at just about anything — except fart jokes.” Next time you’re in the club, be sure to wave hello.

New York Comedy Club has been serving up the best comedy in the city to the Gramercy neighborhood and all of Manhattan since 1989. The classic brick wall behind the stage, candlelit showroom and traditional drink menu all pay tribute to its legacy. Under new ownership since 2014, NYCC still features the best comedians in the city 7 nights a week - now at our second location in the East Village!
