Big Apple Playback presents... Back in Touch: ReMembering and ReConnecting
JUNETEENTH PLAYBACK is back! Big Apple Playback is excited to be part of this now annual playback tradition started by BAPT and Oakland Freedom Theater last year, featuring the wonderful work of Shawnee Benton Gibson, Sipiwe Moyo, Kimeiko Rae, Kimberly Rattley, Dave Ross, and Arianna DeJur.
To create an affinity space, the show is performed by BIPOC performers exclusively for audience members who identify as BIPOC.
Black + Afro-Latinx folks + all our BIPOC siblings, join us in this space for healing. Your rage, grief, joy, power - it's all welcome. You tell your stories, and our Juneteenthers play them back with theatre, music, and love.
Non-BIPOC folks, donate $25+ so this Black-led space can be free to our BIPOC audience. Invest in Black artists to shine and be in community with one another!

The leaders of Big Apple playback want to share a short conversation with our supporters and fans. During this time of crisis, BAPT is committed to dismantling anti-black racism by utilizing playback theatre as a tool to amplify the voices of marginalized people and communities across the globe.
Members of Big Apple Playback are completing this *free* virtual training on how to respond as a bystander to xenophobic and anti-Asian harassment. It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that Shawnee Benton-Gibson, our co-artistic director tragically lost her daughter, Shamony Gibson, this weekend. We invite the supporters of Big Apple Playback to also become supporters of the family of Shamony Gibson.
