🤩my lashes and I are back in business

August was one of those months where life took over and I needed a break from the digital world. Even though I’ve been quiet online, I’ve been diligently testing new products—one being The Big Clean Mascara from . And boy they did not disappoint.

Although my lashes aren’t short, they are super straight and fine. My eyes are also hooded and slightly downturned, making mascara a very necessary step to opening and lifting my eyes while bringing definition to the area. Having eyelids that get quite oily throughout the day, I also need a formula that won’t give me raccoon eyes by noon. I’ve tried way too many “cult favorite” mascaras that just end up making my lashes fall flat, don’t give enough volume, or smudge everywhere.

I am so happy to give The Big Clean Mascara the Asian girl lash approval, an approval that for the past 3+ years only the L’Oreal Lash Paradise waterproof formula has had. The most surprising thing about The Big Clean Mascara is that it is not a waterproof formula, yet holds my curl all day. All day. No other non-waterproof formula has been able to do so. The curved and twisted mascara brush coats each lash effortlessly, aids in curling, and builds beautiful fluffy volume without any clumps. I also love how the mascara is packed with ingredients like castor oil, provitamin B5, and biotinyl tripeptide-1 to nourish your lashes.

💚| clean, conscious, accessible

Cocokind earned a spot on my vanity extremely quickly. I love how simple, straightforward, and to the point the products are. No fancy lingo and the products do exactly what they say. It also doesn’t hurt that the brand is trying to be as eco-friendly and low-waste as possible.

Here is my collection in order of appearance:

✨Texture Smoothing Cream

If you have combo/oily, acne-prone skin, I would highly recommend the Resurfacing Sleep Mask, Turmeric Stick, and Chlorophyll Mask to address acne, congestion, texture, and hyperpigmentation. If you have a different skin type than mine, no worries! There are many products suited for a variety of skin types, so you can easily customize your own routine.

👼🏻skin saviors

I fu**ed up the other day. I washed my face twice within 2 hrs because I got too hot and sweaty from a walk, then accidentally left an active face mask on for too long... The next morning, I woke up with scale-y cheeks 😭 I pride myself in usually having soft, smooth cheeks so yes this is devastating.

😀✨| skin first, makeup second

I’m an OG Glossier fan, like Emily-Weiss-just-launched-her-mask-duo-in-2015-OG. Their makeup products such as Boy Brow and Cloud Paint have been staples in my collection for years.

However for quite awhile, I had a difficult time following Glossier’s “skin first, makeup second” philosophy. As a combo/oily, acne prone girl, many of their skincare products and face makeup weren’t extremely friendly for my skin. Many products slipped, some broke me out, and two even burned... So when Glossier announced they were coming out with a moisturizer specifically made for oily skin, I was very excited yet extremely cautious.

After testing for nearly 2 weeks, I am happy to recommend the Priming Moisturizer Balance for my other combo/oily, acne prone peeps out there. The moisturizer has a very lightweight gel cream texture, which sinks in nicely into the skin. A key selling point of the moisturizer is its use of marine extract to help reduce shine. Although I do still get shiny in the later half of the day, I have noticed it takes longer for my oils to peak through. With niacinamide and willow bark extract, the formula has helped keep my breakouts in control.

To Glossier, great job on this launch! I can finally be a fully rounded Glossier girl.
