Dear Brooklyn United Village,
For more than 35 years, our organization and its leadership have dedicated themselves to serving the children and families of Crown Heights and surrounding communities. What began as a commitment to helping young people find direction, discipline, opportunity, and purpose has grown into a movement that has impacted thousands of lives.
Over the years, Brooklyn United has provided safe spaces, mentorship, performing arts education, leadership development, academic support, travel opportunities, scholarships, career exposure, workforce development, and life-changing experiences for young people who may not have otherwise had access to them.
Today, we are reaching out to ask for your help.
Brooklyn United is currently facing a matter that requires us to demonstrate the impact our work has had on the communities we serve. While we are unable to discuss the specifics at this time, we can say that your voice, your story, and your experiences may be critically important.
We are requesting letters of support from:

• Alumni
• Community members
• School partners
• Staff members
• Volunteers
• Elected officials
• Business partners
• Anyone whose life has been touched by Brooklyn United or the work of Ty Brown
We ask that you write honestly and personally about:
• How long you have known Brooklyn United
• How long you have known Ty Brown
• Your observations of Brooklyn United's impact on children and families
• Specific examples of opportunities provided through the organization
• The effect Brooklyn United has had on your child, family, school, or community
• Why programs like Brooklyn United are important to New York City
• The contributions Brooklyn United has made to Crown Heights and surrounding neighborhoods over the years
The strongest letters tell real stories. We encourage you to share specific memories, experiences, and examples that demonstrate the value of this work.
For 35 years, Brooklyn United has stood with this community. We have celebrated graduations, supported families through difficult times, helped young people discover their talents, and created opportunities where opportunities did not exist.
