The United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) was established by the UN General Assembly with a mandate to advocate for and coordinate South-South and triangular cooperation on a global and UN system-wide basis. UNOSSC engages with Member States globally and regionally, as well as within the UN system to facilitate practical expressions of Southern solidarity towards the achievement of internationally agreed development goals. It works with a wide range of partners to harness emerging innovative financing mechanisms through South-South and triangular cooperation. UNOSSC also ensures that our Southern constituencies have timely access to high-quality analytical planning, and reporting on data, trends and opportunities that will propel South-South and triangular cooperation in ways that ensure success.

Director Dima Al-Khatib welcomed Hon. Ellen Amarkai Attoh-Wreh, Chair of the Women’s Legislative Caucus of Liberia, to discuss progress under the -supported initiative advancing women’s political participation, leadership and economic empowerment in Liberia 🇱🇷.

From Liberia 🇱🇷 to India 🇮🇳 and back: in action. They reflected on the Caucus’ recent peer-learning mission to India and explored opportunities to put lessons on women-led development, gender-responsive budgeting and digital inclusion into practice.

Digital transformation advances human development when investment in technology goes hand in hand with investment in people, skills and institutions. At the dialogue ‘Bahrain’s Digital Transformation Journey: National Human Development Report’, organized by with , in coordination with and , UNOSSC Director Dima Al-Khatib () highlighted how and can help turn the AI divide into an AI dividend.

The dialogue presented preliminary findings from Bahrain’s forthcoming National Human Development Report. Drawing on Bahrain’s experience, the Director emphasized peer learning, institutional partnerships and trusted governance to help countries adapt digital solutions to national priorities.

Through the Global Alliance for South-South and Triangular Cooperation and South-South Galaxy+, UNOSSC stands ready to connect Bahrain’s experience with country needs across the region and beyond – supporting better public services and expanded opportunities.

On the sidelines of and ahead of , students participating in the UNOSSC–NYU Consulting Practicum, “From Sevilla to 2030+: Financing Climate Resilience in the Global South,” met with H.E. Abou Bamba, Minister for Environment and Ecological Transition of Côte d’Ivoire.

The exchange explored financing options and existing and emerging climate resilience solutions and technologies, including how to translate national adaptation priorities into financed projects, mobilize private investment for agricultural resilience and ensure financing reaches smallholder farmers, including cocoa and cashew producers.

Discussions also examined how and can help countries learn faster from each other, exchange practical solutions and technologies, and bridge financing and technical capacity gaps to scale locally driven adaptation.

Through its collaboration with the NYU SPS Center for Global Affairs, is connecting students with policymakers to explore pathways to a more climate-resilient Global South.

Connecting knowledge, technology and finance can help Southern-led solutions deliver impact across borders. At the high-level event “Financing the Future”, co-convened by Morocco and , UNOSSC Director Dima Al-Khatib () highlighted how and can scale investment, strengthen productive capacities and advance sustainable development.

UNOSSC’s newly launched Global Alliance for South-South and Triangular Cooperation connects country-identified needs with Southern solutions, expertise, partnerships and financing opportunities. Morocco and UNDP are among its first partners. Together with UNOSSC’s South-South Trust Funds, the Global Alliance will help translate solutions into partnerships and investment – so that what works in one country can deliver impact across many.

Speaking at the Islamic Development Bank-UNOSSC side event during , UNOSSC Director Dima Al-Khatib () highlighted the role of South-South and triangular cooperation in turning shared knowledge and Southern expertise into lasting development opportunities.

and can help countries share expertise, adapt technologies and build sustained, country-led regional programmes, with benefits reaching those facing the greatest barriers, including landlocked countries, small island developing states and communities affected by fragility.

The Director highlighted how IsDB’s Reverse Linkage mechanism, UNOSSC’s new Global Alliance for South-South and Triangular Cooperation, and South-South Galaxy+ can connect regional priorities with Southern expertise, financing partners and implementation support.

On the sidelines of , UNOSSC Director Dima Al-Khatib () joined the Least Developed Countries Green Industrialization Facilitation Mechanism (LDC-GIF) High-Level Dialogue, welcoming Türkiye’s leadership in advancing green industrialization and its longstanding support to UNOSSC.

Looking ahead to , UNOSSC and the UN Technology Bank () plan to launch an analysis of technology needs assessments for 15 countries, alongside proposed climate technology solutions. UNOSSC stands ready to put this analysis at the service of LDC-GIF for wider sharing and to help inform potential partners.

The Director also invited LDC-GIF to join the new Global Alliance for South-South and Triangular Cooperation – a platform for matchmaking, sharing experiences and connecting government expertise across the Global South.
