Another unusual scalp discovery found while checking a childā€™s hair šŸ˜Ÿ

What first looked like a piece of dandruff or something caught in the hair turned out to be firmly attached near the scalp. Finding something like this can definitely be alarming, especially when itā€™s hidden beneath the hair and isnā€™t causing any obvious symptoms.

This is a good reminder to regularly check your childā€™s scalp, hairline, behind the ears, and other hard-to-see areas. Small things can easily go unnoticed for days or even weeks when theyā€™re hidden under thick hair.

Has anyone ever found something similar on their childā€™s scalp before? What did it end up being, and did you have it checked by a doctor?

My young daughter has been getting a lot of flakes on her scalp recently, and I'm not really sure what's causing it. At first I thought it was just a little dandruff, but it seems to be getting more noticeable and keeps coming back even after washing her hair.

I'm wondering if I should try a medicated shampoo to help clear it up. I've been looking at options like Nizoral, Selsun Blue, or other dandruff shampoos, but I'm not sure what's safe or effective for a child.

Lately I've noticed my daughter developing quite a few flakes on her scalp, and it's beginning to worry me. What started as a small amount of flaking has gradually become more widespread and easier to see, particularly when I'm styling her hair or making parts.

We make sure she washes her hair regularly, but the flakes keep coming back. I'm wondering if this is just dandruff, dry scalp, seborrheic dermatitis, or something else entirely.

I'm considering trying a medicated shampoo such as Nizoral or Selsun Blue, but I'm hesitant since she's still young. Has anyone dealt with something similar in their child? What products or treatments ended up helping?

My 7 yr old daughter has been dealing with scalp flakes for a while now, and lately they've become much thicker and more noticeable. We make sure she washes her hair regularly, but the flakes seem to come right back and are starting to build up along her scalp.

She had cradle cap as a baby and a history of eczema when she was younger, so I'm wondering if that could be playing a role. I'm currently looking into medicated shampoos and trying to decide whether something like Nizoral, Selsun Blue, or T/Gel might be worth trying before her dermatology appointment.

Has anyone dealt with something similar in their child? If so, what ended up helping the most? I'd love to hear any recommendations or experiences. Thanks so much!

My 15 yr old son recently got his hair braided, and a day later I noticed his scalp looked really red and irritated along the braid lines. There are also quite a few flakes showing up that weren't nearly this noticeable before.

I'm wondering if this is just irritation from the braids being too tight, or if it could be dandruff, dry scalp, or something else. Has anyone dealt with this after getting braids done?

Would it be best to leave the style in, take it out, or try a medicated shampoo? I'd really appreciate any advice or product recommendations. Thanks!

My son has been dealing with dandruff for quite a while now, and we're trying to figure out what's actually causing it. His scalp is constantly itchy, and he scratches it a lot, which seems to make the flaking even worse. The flakes range from tiny specks to larger pieces, and they show up throughout his hair and on his clothes every day.

What's confusing is that his scalp seems dry and irritated, but his hair gets oily fairly quickly. Because of that, I'm not sure if this is actually a dry scalp issue, seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, or something else entirely.

We're looking into different ingredients and treatments, but there are so many options out there. Has anyone dealt with something similar with their child? My kindergartener had been playing outside with friends yesterday, and this morning while getting her ready for school I found a tick attached behind her ear. We were able to remove it and save it in a bag, but I'm still feeling pretty nervous about it.

Based on when she was outside, I think it may have been attached for around 18ā€“20 hours before we noticed it. Iā€™ll be calling her pediatrician, but in the meantime I was hoping to hear from others who have been through something similar.

Do you think this looks like a deer tick? Would you be concerned at this point, or just keep an eye on things? Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I'm hoping someone might have some insight because this has been driving me crazy.

This started back in April and I've never had any scalp issues before. At first I thought it was just a little dandruff, but it has gradually turned into thick flakes and buildup that seem to come back no matter what I do. My scalp is also really itchy and certain areas are actually painful and tender to touch.

I've tried changing shampoos and keeping my scalp extra clean, but nothing seems to make a noticeable difference. The flakes range from tiny specks to larger scales, and they shed throughout the day. It's becoming embarrassing and honestly pretty frustrating.

My daughter has been dealing with really bad dandruff for quite a while now, but lately it seems to be getting worse. She'll scrub her scalp really well in the shower and get rid of most of it, but by the next day it's already back again.

Some of the flakes are huge and thick, and she even gets patches that are bigger than a quarter. Her scalp and roots start looking ashy, and flakes fall out throughout the day no matter what she does. We've tried regular dandruff shampoos, but nothing seems to make a lasting difference.

I'm really hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

My 15-year-old daughter started out with what looked like ordinary dandruff a few months ago, but it has gradually become much worse. Tonight while I was helping with her hair, I noticed thick flakes and buildup covering large areas of her scalp. Some spots look irritated underneath, and the flakes seem to come right back no matter what we try.

She washes her hair regularly and keeps good hygiene, so I don't think that's the issue. It's definitely not lice, and the buildup is much thicker than typical dandruff. At times it almost looks like severe cradle cap.

Has anyone seen something like this in a teenager? Could it be seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema, a fungal infection, or something else entirely? What treatments, shampoos, or prescriptions ended up helping?

As a mom, it's hard seeing her become self-conscious about it, and I just want to help her get some relief. We'd really appreciate hearing about any similar experiences or advice before we can get in to see a dermatologist.
