Vlastimil Beránek is a Czech sculptor whose work is defined by minimalism, movement, and the transformation of powerful natural forces into sculptural form. Trained in the tradition of Bohemian glass sculpture, Beránek is known for reducing his compositions to their purest shapes while maintaining a sense of energy and emotion. Inspired particularly by the constant movement of the ocean and the fleeting forms of fire and smoke, he creates static works that nevertheless appear to twist, shift, and move.

This sculpture is a striking expression of that philosophy, composed of two soaring, intertwined forms finished in gold and palladium. The warm luminosity of the gold contrasts dramatically with the cool, silvery character of the palladium, while the subtle curves and sharp geometric edges create the impression of two forms moving around one another. As the viewer changes position, light plays differently across the metallic surfaces, continually altering the sculpture’s appearance. The pairing of gold and palladium gives the work both elegance and strength, transforming Beránek’s characteristic exploration of movement into a monumental, sophisticated statement.

We’re thrilled to represent Kari Sztein’s work in Artemisa Gallery. Originally trained as an architect, her practice was rooted in geometry and formal structures before expanding into painting and, later, textile-based work. Through folds, paint, threads, needles, and pins, she transforms fabric into textured surfaces and three-dimensional forms, where gestures become traces of time, transformation, and repair.
