Warm neutrals are a palette our commercial clients keep reaching for right now. Ivory, cream, sand, beige, taupe, clay, warm gray, the earthy tones that read calm and modern.

That's what Summer Neutrals is about. It's one of our June open calls, and it's also a window into what the commercial side of the art world is actually drawn to. We're looking for work that builds depth and atmosphere through texture, color, form, or material rather than loud, saturated palettes. All mediums welcome, abstract or representational, from textured paintings and mixed media to photography, ceramics, textiles, and nature-inspired work.

Accepted work is curated into ATP.art's Commercial Ready program, the pool our curators draw on when a commercial project calls for it, across hospitality, retail, real estate, and design. Once your work is badged Commercial Ready, your prints can also go in the Readymade store, where commercial designers come to shop.

This call is for printable work only. Files need to be high resolution.

Sarmite Lasmane
Artwork: Mushroom Illusion 1

Sarmite works in mixed-media textile art, using a tufting gun and rag rug hook to turn everyday subjects into something abstract and unexpected. Her work draws on the textures and shapes of nature, balanced with the clean lines of modern architecture. Mushroom Illusion 1 is a strong example of the texture, material presence, and dimensional quality this open call was looking for.

Jayne Somogy
Artwork: Cattails

Jayne creates richly patterned work that celebrates color, texture, and personal style, often balancing playful detail with bold geometric structure. Cattails brings that same energy into a textile-inspired composition.

Artist Feature: Ruthanne Harrison

Ruthanne Harrison paints in watercolor with the precision of a naturalist and the eye of someone looking for something else entirely. Fungi take on the shape of skulls. Shells and bone fragments are rendered close enough to feel like specimens, then placed against open white paper until they feel like something stranger.

This selection is from her 2025 series, Process Notes. In her words: "dissect the world, think about it, and sew it up again. Or dissect the dissected pieces until they become something new."

Every piece of art in this building started the same way: as a file an artist uploaded to a website.

Poplar Grove Apartments, a senior living community in Charlotte, North Carolina, now has a full art collection on its walls. Landscapes, florals, and still lifes, installed throughout the communal spaces and the quieter corners in between. The collection was curated to complement the building's palette and, more than that, to make the community feel calm, warm, and welcoming for the people who live there.

Here is the part worth knowing. Every one of these pieces came from an artist who uploaded their work to our platform. Our curators selected the work for this project; the artists sold their pieces, and they were installed in a real space that residents see and enjoy every day.

That is the whole idea. An artist uploads their work, whether by applying to an open call or simply adding it to their Artrepreneur page. We curate. The work gets placed, and it sells.

Photosynthesis just joined the walls of Contours at Gallery 85 in Chelsea, New York.

There's a certain electricity to this one. High contrast, all movement and quiet energy at the same time. A botanical study that shifts the mood of a room the moment it enters it.

Contours brings together five contemporary artists exploring the dynamic relationship between form and color. The show is on view now at Gallery 85, New York.

OPEN CALL · Sunwashed

We're looking for artwork made with sunlight.

Cyanotypes. Lumen prints. Pinhole photography. Anthotypes. Solar prints. Any work that uses the sun as part of the creative process.

There's something quietly magical about these techniques. They're slow. They depend on weather, on time, on patience. The work that comes out of them carries the fingerprint of how it was made, in a way that very few other mediums do.

For Sunwashed, we're welcoming the full range. Botanical studies and landscapes. Portraits and abstract compositions. Work on paper, fabric, or alternative surfaces. Traditional cyanotype blues alongside the warm, ethereal tones of lumen prints. Contemporary reinterpretations of historical processes and experimental work that pushes the boundaries.

What we're looking for above all is intention. Strong composition, thoughtful craftsmanship, and a clear connection to the process itself.

Artist Feature: Kayo Shido

Kayo Shido works at the intersection of memory and landscape. Her abstract paintings pull from the unconscious. Disintegrated images, stored feelings, the kind of material that doesn't have a name yet. Given form through layers of color, mark, and texture.

She works primarily on Mylar, a transparent and lightweight material that opens up her process. The unpainted sections become part of the composition, and white reads as presence rather than absence.

Born in Japan and based in New York, Kayo has exhibited widely across the city and beyond, including at The Delaware Contemporary Museum. Her work expands beyond painting into murals, 3D objects, and installations.

Artist Feature: Joaquin Valdez Macher

Joaquin Valdez Macher paints people like they're mid-story. Graphic, punchy, and full of personality. The color isn't "realistic"; it's directional; it tells you where to look, then it tells you what to notice.

This selection moves between ceremony and leisure, the formal portrait and the Friday night, but the throughline is the same: every subject gets treated with care.

Something to take into the studio: bold color and disciplined drawing aren't opposites. Joaquin's work is a good reminder of what that balance can look like.

There's a shift happening in how properties think about art.

It's not just about filling a wall anymore. More and more, art is being chosen specifically to help people feel better in a space. The WHO and Mayo Clinic have both pointed to art's role in reducing stress, lifting mood, and supporting overall wellbeing. Some experts are now calling it the fifth pillar of health, alongside sleep, food, movement, and time in nature.

That shift is changing what gets commissioned. The work that lands in these spaces isn't picked for its subject matter. It's picked for how it makes a room feel.
