“Shelter In” on view now
began in spring of 2020 at Equity Gallery during the initial lockdown. When our studio was inaccessible due to Covid, allowed for an impromptu place to paint, and this began from observation on my installation on site.

This painting depicts an imagined landscape, inspired by a cherished place that evokes a sense of home and originated from our time sheltered in place in NYC.

I revisited it and completed it this spring.

Spring has Sprung…
The grass has riz i wonder where the flowers is? 🌸

Happy Spring Everyone, on this cold rainy grey morning I am thinking of this painting and the silly poem my dear late mother would recite each spring.

It was her birthday yesterday, I ate a chocolate 🧁 in her honor and painted :) As an avid gardener, she instilled in me a love of plants and the natural world and really taught me to see, pointing out many a plant.

I am also looking at this painting painted pleine air in 2015 with muse today to help resolve a larger studio piece. 🌱 🪴 🌺

Happy Friday!!
An exciting thing transpired this week.

🌼 🫐 🌼

This painting came about and appeared in ´Tablet’ on line magazine as an editorial image, inspired by Maxim D. Shrayer’s fascinating fictional piece, ´The St. Petersburg Traveling Circus’ .

I was taken by the reference of plants in the story. Notably the bilberry shrubs, red berries known as kostyanika, the notion of berries of ones childhood along with the significance of daisies later in the story.

It was a joy to contemplate this piece, a bigs thanks to
for writing this exquisite story, for inviting my visual response and finding my work on website.

👻👻👻 BOO!

Happy Halloween 🎃 from Iowa… here with some OLD art. These paintings are scary 😦 scarier yet, it was made almost 30 years ago.

I window to a former self perhaps, feeling literally cold 🥶 oppressed and maybe depressed in part, because I was a really bad painter.

Unsure why I am taking this moment yo humiliate myself, but glad I kept going.

Time flies so much left to do! ;€

I am teaching a Figure Drawing class this fall at NYAA, Session II begins Tuesday at October 29th. and there are a few spots open.

We’ll review some basics, then dive into head structure, hands & feet, value studies, and a long pose session.
