First Round Voting hasn’t even opened yet, and Matt B is already locked in!
He and Angela V. Benson are both Recording Academy Voting Members, but clearly, they have very different ballot prep styles.
Grammy Voting 101, because yes, there’s a whole process 👇
First Round Voting begins Oct. 12. Voting Members, including active performers, songwriters, producers, engineers and musicians, listen to the eligible recordings and vote for their peers.
In most Categories, the five recordings with the most votes become nominees. In the General Field Categories, Record Of The Year, Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year and Best New Artist, the top eight are nominated.
Members can use the standard 10/3 method to vote in the General Field plus up to 10 Categories across three Fields.
After the nominees are announced on Nov. 16, Voting Members return for Final Round Voting to help determine the winners.
Every ballot is handled and counted by Deloitte, an independent accounting firm that tabulates the votes to help keep the process fair, impartial and secure. The recording with the most votes in each Category wins.
The Grammy Award is the only music award where nominees and winners are chosen entirely by music creators, for music creators.
