One of the most important parts of Song Salon is the conversation.

Not the formal interview kind. The kind that happens when people genuinely know each other. The kind that wanders, reveals, and opens something up in the room.

We asked the artists: who do you have the richest conversations with? Who helps bring out the fullest version of you?

And then we handed them the room.

SIIMBIIE LIIVES LONG in conversation with KAMAUU.
Elisabet Velasquez in conversation with AMYRA.

Welcome back to Song Salon.

We wanted to create a space that reimagined how we engage with artists and their work.

A space that centers the most interesting part - the people.

This year’s featured artists are visionary multidisciplinary artist AMYRA and sonic visionary KAMAUU - two powerful performers, brilliant storytellers, and artists we’re excited to hand the room over to for two nights.

Song Salon returns.

First introduced in 2023, Song Salon is a live performance and exchange series that reflects the role 651 ARTS aims to play - a place for meeting, connection, and the sharing of ideas.

It’s built around the kind of relationships we want to foster: deeper, not wider. Ongoing, not transactional. An exchange that continues beyond the moment.

Now, settled in our home in Downtown Brooklyn, we’re excited to bring the series back and invite you to experience Song Salon here with us.

Thank you to The Billie Holiday Theatre, who partnered with us to bring this vision to life before we had a space of our own.

Now, we get to continue that story in our own home.

Valiant. Resilient. Women.

Night two of Fanm Vanyan. ✨

A crossing. A convergence. A meeting point of sound, spirit, and lineage.

KāFOU: Crossroads in Embodied Rhythm, with Val Jeanty() and Cassie Watson Francillon(), brought audiences into a space where the sacred and the electronic, the ancestral and the experimental, exist together.

Curated by Ariella Villefranche(), the inaugural 651 ARTS Curatorial Fellow, this work reflects an ongoing exploration of convergence, where music, identity, and community meet and transform.

Thank you to all who were part of this experience.🌃

Valiant. Resilient. Women.

Night one of Fanm Vanyan. ✨

An evening of voice, sound, and image, honoring the artists and influences that shape how we listen, feel, and remember.

Featuring a performance by Ursula Rucker (), sounds by Tara (), and photography by Wanda Benvenutti (), the night held space for reflection, storytelling, and Diasporic connection. The exhibition remains on view throughout April.

Curated by Ariella Villefranche (), the inaugural 651 ARTS Curatorial Fellow, the program draws from a search for connection—“the connections within the music we love”—and the ways those sounds live within us across time.

Grateful to everyone who gathered with us.🙏🏾
