Czech and Slovak Cultural Center NYC

The program uses a U.S. The program uses genuine Czech and Slovak textbooks and learning material to promote more authentic learning.

The school offers a tuition-free program based on a comprehensive approach to learning a modern Czech and Slovak language with a curriculum created to educate school-aged children. Balanced Literacy framework and incorporates the Czech and the Slovak National Curriculum Standards for Elementary Schools to effectively teach all aspects of each language, including grammar, reading, creative writing,

and communication. In addition, culturally-rich activities provide students with many opportunities to understand the fundamentals of each country´s history, geography, and ethnic life style. The program is currently conducted every Friday from 5:00-7:30pm or Saturday from 10:00am to 12:30pm and is intended for children 5 to 14 years of age. Children at all levels of proficiency are admitted in the program.

Czech and Slovak Language Day Camp 2017! A fun and creative 2-week unique program for children 5-12 years old who want to learn or improve their Czech or Slovak. On October 16-17, 2015 the Slovak School celebrated Ľudovít Štúr's 200th Birthday. The children met for a school assembly and learned about Ľ. Štúr's life and work. Radio Slovakia International was present to record this important event. We'd like to thank Inga Sivcova-Kuzma, for her participation in the organization of this fun and educational event!

On October 23, 2015, the Prague theater Viola visited the Czech and Slovak Cultural Center for the 2nd time and performed Endele Vendele for the children from our school. Thank you Radka, Martin, and Josef for your outstanding performance!
