Some destinations stay with you long after you've left.

In his photograph Map Room, Caprarola, Italy (2016), David Burdeny captures the quiet grandeur of one of Italy's most extraordinary Renaissance interiors. Completed in 1574 and painted by Giovanni Antonio de Varese, the room features stunning 16th-century frescoes of the known world, celestial Zodiac ceilings, and portraits of famous explorers. Burdeny transforms this historic space into a meditation on light and symmetry, inviting us to savor every detail.

Featured in our summer group exhibition, Getaway, this photograph offers a journey of its own, transporting viewers to a place where history, beauty, and imagination converge.

✨ Getaway is on view through August 30, bringing together works that evoke the spirit of travel, discovery, and escape.

🖼️ Framing Tips That Make All the Difference

The right frame doesn't just finish an artwork, it helps it shine.

Here are five simple tips to keep in mind:

1. Let the artwork lead.
Choose a frame that complements the artwork rather than competes with it. The goal is to enhance the piece, not distract from it.

2. Think about your space.
A frame should feel at home in the room where the artwork will live. Consider your furnishings, architecture, and overall aesthetic.

3. Protect your investment.
Opt for museum-quality materials, including UV-protective glazing and acid-free mats, to help preserve your artwork for years to come.

4. Scale matters.
Larger works often benefit from deeper frame profiles, while smaller pieces can feel more refined with slimmer frames. Proportion makes a difference.
