Bird-Owl is part of my ongoing Strange Creatures series, which will culminate in a 36-foot immersive installation this summer.
These hybrid beings inhabit a forest sanctuary where difference is not only accepted, but celebrated. Built from found glass, ceramics, fabric, glass beads, rhinestones, and mixed media, Bird-Owl is one of the inhabitants of this imagined refuge—a place beyond conformity, fear, and exclusion.

The series began in 2017 as a response to a culture increasingly shaped by division, othering, and manufactured fear. By transforming familiar kitsch objects into beautiful mutants, I explore how identity, belonging, and resilience can emerge from what society often rejects.

Instagram friends! I am doing my “Annual Birthday Candle Drive.” Please send me yours and your loved ones’ birthday candles as they appear.

For the last 15 years, I’ve been preserving people’s wishes—small remnants, markers of time, celebration, and gathering. I am now working on an installation for a show in 2027 and could use as many as possible.

DM me anytime if you are interested in contributing. I am happy to pay for USPS shipping and wash off any icing.

A Madeleine Moment, curated and produced by Jessica Jane Julius and Erica Rosenfeld, runs through November 8th -This immersive exhibition reimagines the boundaries between the kitchen and the studio, revealing how both function as spaces of labor, intimacy, and transformation. Featuring works by over 40 artists working across glass, ceramics, fiber, painting, drawing, photography, food, and mixed media, the exhibition focuses on the collective narratives that emerge through food — reflecting on tradition, politics, culture, design, memory, and communal identity.

For the duration of the show, we will be spotlighting participating artists. This week, we’re honored to highlight artists whose practices critically engage the entanglement of identity, politics, and or consumerism, using food imagery to either affirm or challenge the systems that shape social narratives. By examining how culture is shaped—and consumed—through daily rituals, their work reveals how food becomes a powerful visual language: one that expresses who we are, where we come from, and how systems of value and belonging are created, reinforced, and transformed.

We will be teaching “Sculpting a Feast” at July 29th- August 2nd.
Both the glass studio and the dinner table have the power to tell stories of craft, tradition, history, culture, and ritual, serving as gathering places that foster lasting communities. Join us for a week of exploring the dinner table as a site of connection, play, and creative expression, culminating in a shared meal at a sculptural ‘table’ of our own design. Students will create unconventional glassware, sculptural objects, and interactive elements that celebrate traditional dining rituals.

Go to https://urbanglass.org/classes/detail/sculpting-a-feast to learn more.

Pictured here are edible installations and meals made by our amazing students and T.A.’s in previous workshops at and . Unfortunately there were too many people to tag.
