“Hamare Man Ram” - a timeless thumri that expresses deep devotion and surrender of the heart to Lord Ram.

This was more than a performance... it was a prayer in melody.

Surrounded by divine energy and a community rooted in faith, this offering became a moment of stillness, reflection, and love
- where music served as the bridge between the soul and the sacred.

Thumri has always been about emotion, bhav, and intimate expression - and in this holy space, every note was sung not just to be heard... but to be felt.

🕊️ Tribute Message — Indian Republic Day & Legacy 🇮🇳

On Indian Republic Day, we reflect on freedom — not only of a nation, but of identity, culture, and the right to carry our heritage wherever life takes us.

Today, we honor Roger Sookraj — one of the few who steadfastly upheld the Trinidadian Classical tradition here in New York. A teacher, mentor, and cultural bearer, Roger dedicated his life to passing down music rooted in Bharat (India), preserved through the Caribbean, and lovingly nurtured on American soil.

Through him, generations learned more than melodies — they learned discipline, devotion, humility, and respect for a lineage far greater than any one person. His hands shaped rhythm, but his spirit shaped souls.

Trinidadian Classical Music exists because of people like Roger — those who chose preservation over convenience, depth over popularity, and community over self. His lessons will live on in every student he taught, every taal he kept alive, and every heart he touched.

Today, as India stands proud in its republic, we remember one of her sons of the diaspora — who ensured that her musical heritage continued to breathe, thousands of miles away.

May his legacy remain eternal.
May the music never stop. 🇮🇳🇹🇹🤍

Trinidad Classical Music Foundation is not about one voice or one name.
It is the collective heartbeat of our elders, our teachers, our musicians, and our community — those who taught us, those who still guide us, and those whose legacy lives on through sound and spirit.

Today, we also hold space and send love to Roger Sookraj, and to all the artistes who have carried this music with devotion and sacrifice.
This is how culture survives — together. 🇹🇹✨
