“Clayton Banks” 18”x24” Oil on canvas

I had the pleasure of painting the CEO of Silicon Harlem, Clayton Banks. This painting would be gifted to Clayton by his son Josh on his 60th birthday. With the piece being commissioned by Josh, we discussed his fathers attributes, and interests. I proceeded to embody his dads persona and presence through specific pigments and lighting.

“Exotic Safari”

Each piece is 18” x 24” Oil on canvas

This series was originally an experimental project to explore a range of saturated hues and specific animals that reside in the African Safari. Both have been interests of mine for a some time but have never been incorporated into my creations.

The first thing that came to mind when thinking about saturated hues were exotic plants/flowers. As far as the animals in this series, I chose 4 of my favorites. Some were chosen for esthetics and others for their innate attiributes that I’m attracted to. As I began this unfamiliar juxtaposition on canvas, It began to shift from an experiment to a series. Some of the exotic plants/and flowers are surreal. This is due to getting lost in the colorful study of flora.

At times a painting has the ability to lead you into a creation that was never intended.

This series is currently on display at M***a Pearl, located on 70 Pine St New York, NY.

“Elsa” 24” x 36” Oil on canvas

This is a portrait painting of Elsa. I was contacted by her son for this commission. From what I was told, she was a loving, strong, and radiant woman that was the glue of her family. I was given about 2 1/2 weeks to complete this (in oil paint) which can be a challenge, even with fast drying mediums applied. But when there’s a will, there’s a way. This painting would be presented at her 1 year anniversary memorial which I had the pleasure of attending.
The love, laughter, sad/funny stories, and the rich Dominican culture gave me a chance to meet Elsa through her children, siblings, grandchildren, cousins, and close friends. From immortalizing Elsa through pigments to living memories through her family, this was a moving experience.
