On a rainy night in October 2005 we opened the doors to a ratty loft in the shady side of Williamsburg for the soft opening of a place we called the Marcy Hotel. Just two punks in our early 20’s not gonna beg promoters to let us play or some crappy venue to give us a night. We had a bigger vision in mind..

But even we hadn’t a clue of the fire we started, a 20 year journey that took us from the streets of Brooklyn to the towers of Hong Kong, the Australian bush, the deserts of Nevada, and pretty much everywhere in between. We were young, dumb and full of … passion.

From the beginning the place was a hit. A cross between a club, loft party, and our living room. We were open when a DJ friends was in town, a new artist or track needed some airtime, or we were bored and wanted to party. We played what we wanted when we wanted to and turned over our crowd more than once!

Open for close to a decade, it helped launch our careers, created a community, and lit a fire of music, culture, friends that’s still burning bright. We brought many talented artists into the fold, launched some labels and released more than 100 records, 20+ albums, and more events and parties than we can remember.

So here we are, 20 years on. Went by in a flash, a sparkle on the wall. We’re kicking off a year of memories, reconnecting with fans, friends, listeners, lovers and remastered music. With an eye towards the next 20 years and what that might bring…

and I first ventured to Burning Man in 2002. Back then, psychedelic trance and live rock ruled the desert. We were so blown away that we returned every year for a decade—each time bringing more friends to share in the magic.

Those Playa sunrises changed our sound from German-influenced minimal techno to the sunny, soulful disco house we’re known for today. Iconic camps like .ori.ent, Image Node, and later gave us cherished sunrise slots, where we helped shape the soundscape that still echoes across the desert.

In 2011, we designed these beautiful keepsakes for our closest friends to hand out on the Playa. Now, in collaboration with artist and the underground lifestyle site , we’ve done a very limited run in brass and silver—for anyone looking for a little piece of the Playa year-round.
