I absolutely love my Photo Booth business & the way that it makes people feel. But the most frustrating part is when someone comes up and takes a photo and looks around and goes “wow this is a brilliant business you just buy a light and a printer and go take pictures.”

Maybe that sounds unbelievable - but people say it often! And I should take it as a compliment- it means I’m making it look easy.

But genuinely, the Photo Booth business is one of the harder “jobs” I’ve had. And it requires a number of concurrent skills that I happen to have around tech, photography, strategy, people skills and culture / vibe, troubleshooting, customer service, sales, design, etc.

It also requires a lot of skills around literally crowd management, managing folks’ expectations, saying no when it’s needed, making people feel special while also holding them accountable and in order, and moving things along while also giving people a moment to shine.

To also pull back the curtain, stuff goes wrong sometimes! And it’s my job to make sure the crowd doesn’t see or experience that- so keeping cool while fixing and adjusting things, while also bringing the vibe.

I often get complimented not only on the photos, props, process, etc, but my own ability to bring energy and pump up the party. I hear all about past Photo Booth teams that have been hired, how they actually brought down the vibes with inflexibility and a grumpy approach to line management, and a non-committed attitude to the success and objectives of the event.

Ultimately, what the client & their guests see is a guy (me) dancing around wearing a glitter cowboy hat and taking photos - and that’s FUN!!! And it’s fun because it looks effortless.

I’m excited to share that Rent My Booth is turning years old 8 this summer. EIGHT!!! It is with this experience that I come to these parties and take and print branded photos with great energy.

GO BRITNEY!!!!! So many compliments on this Britney shirt last night at the amazing Meta party ❤️❤️❤️

I try to wear fun cool outfits that are conversation starters- you’d be surprised by how many people come over to talk to me just as an activity at the party- whether they want a photo or not. I had a GREAT conversation with a woman about Britney’s forever icon status ❤️❤️❤️

I always love bringing my photo booth to the annual gala for the New York Communities for Change group, who is full of boldness, full of bright, colorful action, and aspires for a positivity that I'd love to see in the world!

When I think about great event planning, I think about the event planning team, who always makes sure that people feel important, who always makes sure people know what's in it for them, and makes sure there's activities, food, beverage, and drinks for people to enjoy during the event.

One of my favorite things to do with Rent My Booth is take on bespoke, one-of-a-kind requests. If you have a wild idea for your event, whether it’s on the menu or not, slide into the DMs with it, because making something unique is what I love most.

Today was extra special for Lauren’s birthday at Stuart Cinema & Cafe, where she turned her party into an actual movie screening experience with a red carpet vibe. Her friends walked into that cozy indie theater space, and I got to welcome them in, coach them through their red carpet photos, and make it feel like a real premiere. Big energy, great photos, and it was just a one-hour kickoff to the main event. 

It reminded me of a night I experienced at a big premiere event, where the photography and welcoming moments made everything feel elevated. That’s the kind of subtle custom magic I’m here to bring to your moments too, not just run tech or snap pics, but create an experience people talk about.
