A somber day. I wound up attending a mass in my hometown this morning. 27 people from my town died that day.

The priest reminded us of the unity of that time, when the flag was for everyone. Courage and resilience and love of country.

For 25 years we have been healing. The kids in school today read about 9/11 the way we read about past wars, the way future generations will read about the pandemic as something important that changed history, yet removed not having been there.

To all who showed bravery, rushed to help, the ones who went down so that more lives weren't lost thank you, you are always remembered. I am glad Mayor Mamdani was able to settle two lawsuits and get the medical funds for those who still suffer from health problems due to their service that day don't the 100 days following while the fires still burned. There was so much smoke. The city was wearily quiet for two weeks and when the noise returned it was jarring. Thank you to those who serve and hold true and honor their oaths to protect the rest of us.

Rest in peace Yayoi Kusama, Queen of Polka Dots and color.

We are losing the color from this world. A study by the Science Museum Group found that colorful daily objects dropped from about 40% in 1800 to just 15% in 2026.

I use black and white as the brand colors because the scents are the main act that travel beyond any container. Today I'm lighting No. 2 Elle in a pink vessel in honor of Yayoi.

Life is for living and candles are made to be used. A special event isn't complete until you scent that event.

One of the biggest honors for me are the memorial candles or scents where the original muse has passed and can still be enjoyed through scent. Scent sits next to memory in the brain 🧠 and is the strongest trigger of memory.

For me, roses always make me remember my little Frenchie Elle. The heavier whiskey scents represent deep conversations with friends, especially fall cosy No. 4 Confidante, a maple bourbon and musk classic. No. 17 Private Reserve reminds me of cuddles on the couch, cashmere blanket draped over us.
