While neurotypical brains can be motivated by deadlines, responsibilities, and long-term consequences, the ADHD brain relies on internal drivers such as interest, novelty, challenge, or urgency to activate focus.
This is why situations like boring meetings can feel almost impossible to stay engaged in -due to differences in dopamine regulation, the brain acks sufficient "fuel" to sustain attention, sometimes leading to zoning out or even sleep-like states.
