🏠 DOES THIS MOSS ON MY ROOF POSE ANY POTENTIAL PROBLEMS?

When I first moved into this home about seven years ago, I spent quite a bit of time manually removing all the moss from the roof with a putty knife. Unfortunately, it came back fairly quickly.

At first glance, it doesn’t appear to be causing any obvious damage, but I’m wondering whether it could create problems over time if I simply leave it alone.

This side of the roof gets very little direct sunlight, and I’m located in the Pacific Northwest, so I know the damp, shaded conditions are probably contributing to the recurring growth.

For those with roofing experience or homeowners who have dealt with this before:

Is this something I should take care of now, or can it safely be monitored? And what’s the best way to remove it without damaging the shingles?

I’d appreciate a second opinion before I start scraping away at it again. 🏠🌿👀

🪵 IS THIS PLYWOOD OKAY TO REUSE?

I’m looking at this sheet of plywood and wondering whether it’s still in good enough condition to use again.

It doesn’t necessarily look unusable, but I’d like a second opinion before putting it back into service. What would you check for — water damage, delamination, rot, cracks, warping, or weakened edges?

For those with construction or woodworking experience:

Would you reuse this plywood, or would you replace it? 👀🔨

🏠 ROOF REPLACED YESTERDAY — SHOULD I BE CONCERNED?

I had my roof replaced yesterday, and I noticed a few things afterward that have me wondering whether everything looks the way it should.

Since the installation is brand new, I’d rather ask questions now than ignore something that could become a bigger issue later.

For those with roofing experience, what would you look for when inspecting a newly installed roof? Are there any details in the workmanship that should be checked immediately?

I’d appreciate some opinions from experienced roofers, contractors, or homeowners who have been through a roof replacement before. 🔨🏠👀

🏠 NEW ROOF INSTALLED OVER A MONTH AGO — WHAT AM I SEEING?

I’m in southeastern Wisconsin, and the roof was replaced a little over a month ago. We’ve had some relatively warm temperatures, but it has cooled off overnight recently. These photos were taken in the morning, and I’m noticing some visible patterns or irregularities in the shingles.

I’ve heard the term “telegraphing” used to describe certain issues where the underlying roof surface or decking becomes visible through the shingles, but I understand there can be several possible causes for this type of appearance.

The roof was installed with a higher-grade Owens Corning “Flex” shingle, so I’m trying to understand whether what I’m seeing could be related to temperature, installation, the roof deck, or something else.

Before contacting the contractor, I’d like to know what questions I should be asking.

For the roofers and contractors here: what would you specifically inspect or discuss with the installer in a situation like this? 🏠🔨👀

🚗 A PARKING INCIDENT THAT LEFT ME WITH MORE QUESTIONS THAN ANSWERS

To the individual who reported my vehicle while it was parked in a disabled parking space at Target, I’m genuinely trying to understand the reasoning behind that decision.

I was away from the vehicle only briefly—just long enough to go inside, get what I needed, and return. By the time I came back outside, my vehicle was already being loaded onto a tow truck.

From my perspective, everything happened incredibly quickly. What was intended to be a short errand turned into a tow, additional fees, and a significant amount of frustration.

At the same time, I understand why designated disabled parking spaces are taken seriously. These spaces exist for people who genuinely need accessible parking, and occupying one without authorization can have consequences.

For me, the experience raises a broader question about enforcement and proportionality: Should the circumstances and length of time matter when a vehicle is found in a designated accessible space, or should the violation itself be enough to justify immediate towing?

I’d be interested in hearing how others view situations like this.

💬 What do you think—was immediate towing appropriate, or should there be more discretion depending on the circumstances?

🧹💵 IS AN EXTRA $15 FAIR FOR A KITCHEN DEEP CLEAN?

I’m still very new to professional cleaning—this is only my second client, and I started this work last week.

My client originally offered $50 to deep-clean the guest room and bathrooms. She has now offered an additional $15 if I also deep-clean the kitchen, including the stove, microwave, pantry, and cabinets.

That would bring the total payment to $65.

She feels the additional $15 is fair because I’m still building experience and says I should consider it good pay for someone just starting out. I understand that experience, location, and local cleaning rates can all affect what a new cleaner charges.

At the same time, I want to make sure I’m not undervaluing the amount of work involved. A true kitchen deep clean can take considerably more time than a standard cleaning, especially when appliances, cabinets, and pantry areas are included.

For those with experience in residential cleaning:

💬 Is an additional $15 reasonable for this level of kitchen deep cleaning, or should the price be based more heavily on the time, size, and amount of work involved?

I’d appreciate honest feedback from experienced cleaners. 🧽🏠

🚨🚗 CAN ANYONE IDENTIFY THIS YELLOW WARNING LIGHT?

I noticed this yellow warning light on my dashboard and honestly don’t know exactly what it means or what system it’s connected to.

I took the vehicle to a nearby mechanic, who estimated that the repair could cost around $1,400. He also recommended addressing the issue soon rather than continuing to drive without getting it diagnosed.

The part I’m unsure about is the diagnosis. I didn’t receive a clear explanation of what the warning indicates, which component may be involved, or what specifically makes the repair urgent.

The mechanic did offer to complete the work for $1,000, which is a significant discount, so I’m considering having it repaired there. However, before spending that kind of money, I’d like to understand the problem better and possibly get a second diagnostic opinion.

🔧 Would you approve a $1,000–$1,400 repair based on this information, or would you get another diagnostic first?

And if you recognize this warning light, what does it indicate?

I’d appreciate some insight from experienced drivers and mechanics before making a decision. 👇

🍽️💵 HOW MUCH WOULD YOU TIP ON A $120 BILL?

I recently went to a diner, and my bill came to $120. I had only $5 extra available for a tip, so that’s what I left.

Afterward, I overheard the server speaking with another employee and saying that someone shouldn’t go out to eat if that’s all they can afford to tip. She didn’t say it directly to me, but I could hear the conversation.

That experience left me wondering about tipping expectations.

I understand that tips can be an important part of a server’s income, and customers may have different views about what an appropriate tip should be. At the same time, not every customer has the same financial situation or ability to leave a larger amount.

So I’m curious:

💬 How much would you tip on a $120 bill?

Would you leave a percentage, a flat amount, or simply tip what you can reasonably afford?

Let’s keep the discussion respectful toward both restaurant workers and customers.

🍽️💰 THIS SIGN IS ABOUT MORE THAN ONE RESTAURANT — IT HIGHLIGHTS A BIGGER TIPPING DEBATE

Tipping has become one of the most debated parts of dining in the United States. Restaurants, employees, and customers can have very different expectations about how service should be compensated and who should ultimately bear that cost.

For many servers, tips are an important part of their income. At the same time, customers may feel uncomfortable when suggested percentages continue to rise, particularly when a 40% tip is presented prominently and feels more like an expectation than an optional choice.

Whether you agree with a 40% tip or not, signs like this can start an important conversation.

Great service can absolutely make a dining experience better, and recognizing that service matters. But customers also have different financial circumstances and should be able to decide what they can reasonably afford based on their experience.

Meanwhile, restaurants can consider compensation models that provide employees with fair and dependable wages while giving customers greater clarity about what they are actually paying for.

At the heart of the debate is a simple question:

🤔 Should the cost of providing good service primarily be carried by the customer through tipping, by the restaurant through wages, or through some combination of both?

Respect the workers. Respect the customers. And keep the conversation constructive.

I already called the police on whoever was riding around last night with those insanely bright LED lights all over their helmet.

I don’t know who told you that blinding everyone on the road was a good idea, but congratulations, you managed to make yourself visible at the stakes of distracting others.

How is this even legal? You’re not a police officer. You’re not an emergency vehicle. You’re just some guy making the road more dangerous for everyone else because you want attention.

I reported it and gave the time and location. They said they’ll be reviewing cameras in the area, so if that was you, expect a nice conversation soon.

At what point does “being visible” turn into being a hazard to literally everyone around you?
