Every day, we wade through an unrelenting deluge of images, words, and sounds—an overwhelming static, loud and insistent, like a television set caught between channels with the volume cranked too high. Social media has become a barrage of flickering impressions, a flood of half-formed thoughts and borrowed aesthetics, where meaning is often drowned in sheer excess.

In this saturation, what cuts through the noise? It’s rarely the new or the extraordinary. Instead, it’s the recognizable—the half-remembered melody, the film still we struggle to place, the echo of something we’ve seen before. Familiarity registers in a way that originality struggles to. The algorithm rewards what already fits the pattern, what has been seen, shared, and consumed a thousand times before.

To create something meaningful in this landscape—to paint, to write, to compose, to perform—is to carve clarity from chaos. It is to build something with gravity in a space where everything else floats past, weightless. It is an act of defiance against ephemerality, against the churn of content-for-content’s-sake.

And yet, the real challenge isn’t just being seen—it’s being felt. Because while recognition gets the initial pause, it is resonance that endures.
