I performed there with my band at the same place as Trini Lopez; Bobby Fuller Four (I Fought The Law); Standells (Dirty Water); Rufus Thomas; Kool & The Gang (Live at PJ's) and many more famous acts. It's just before I stopped performing and segued into fabrics for 45 years-hard to believe

A young Bobby. His career was floundering and his record company, Atlantic/Atco, was about to release him after a succession of mediocre recordings. His persistence of shopping songs that he had written, often with neighborhood friend, Don Kirshner, was only modestly successful. A serendipitous visit to legendary New York dj, Murray The K (Murray Kaufman) turned rock'n'roll history on its head when Murray's mom told her son "ask him to write a song that has lyrics like 'Splish, splash-take a bath''. Seems like he did!
