The event will debut at the recently opened 116 on May 2nd 2011. in Greenwich Village, the venue was once known as the Gaslight Café. Here, Kyle Sullivan and Edgar Guerrero will continue to provide an eclectic blend of house, deep house, and tech-house beats for all dance music enthusiasts.
116 MacDougal is the address that originally housed the legendary Gaslight Café and is known as the birthplace of New York Bohemia. Starting with the readings of beat poets Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg, continuing with the stand-up routines of Wavy Gravy and Bill Cosby, and establishing the recording careers of Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen, the underground room at 116 MacDougal left an indelible footprint in the cannon of New York City’s creative community. The subterranean lounge is a stone-walled escape from MacDougal Street madness, lined with low banquets, private alcoves, photo booth, and a classic cocktail menu curated by Alex Clark. An intimate performance venue, the calendar will feature a rotation of emerging NYC musicians, poets, comics, DJs, and more. The Monday Maneuver continues to delight audiences, who are warmed up with a collection of deep house melodies and gradually transitioned into house and tech-house grooves. Swing by and enjoy a comfortable space, while expressing your love for music, nightlife, and the U-Theory experience. Admission is always free, with the event starting at 10pm every Monday.
