To be recognized and considered in these spaces is LOVE!! Being able to witness Black Hair Industry Professionals receive their flowers in rooms where our work is not always centered — but is often imitated — was powerful.
One of my favorite parts of the event was watching live hair artistry happen in real time, being backstage as the artists worked, and witnessing a Black woman photographer receive a Living Legen Award. A beautiful full-circle moment. CONGRATS 🫶🏾
Also… seeing all the curls in the room definitely made me miss my curly fro IYKYK 🥹✨
