The family of Kur Akol Malek of the Kuac Ayok Community, Warkou, Palich Clan, will today embark on a journey to Abuok Marol, Apuk Giir Thiik — the home of the groom’s family, Mrs. Achol Gen. Mathok Geng Piol of the Padiangbar Clan — for the formal marriage settlement of the two lovebirds.

Both families have mutually agreed on a bride price of 210 head of cattle, 40 steers, and 3 oxen.

Subject: A Call for Peace and Dialogue - Tonj Community.

Dear , Generals, Politicians, Business Leaders, Women Groups, and Youth of Tonj,

Our community has bled for too many years. Our mothers have buried children. Our children have grown up knowing gunshots more than classrooms. Many families have been displaced from their homes and land.

We have all suffered enough.

The time has come for us, the sons and daughters of Tonj, to sit together. Not as enemies, but as one community. Let us discuss our differences with words, not weapons. Let us choose dialogue over violence, forgiveness over revenge.

Tonj is our shared home. Its future depends on what we decide today.

I call on all leaders, elders, women, and youth to come together for a peace dialogue. Let our mothers speak. Let our youth speak. Let us build Tonj again, together.
