FURY YOUNG - ESCAPE FROM LES
Before BYOR … there was playing records in my living room! But this was no ordinary record. Fury Young’s “Escape from LES” on vinyl for the first time, listening to the test pressing on both systems in my apartment. And it’s big, dynamic, killer with no filler, 4 tracks per side, sequenced right, a bona fire killer record album in all respects. It will be featured at BYOR on Thursday. Peter the Cat approved!

Cheap Trick last night was awesome, casually kicking ass throughout. Rick Nielsen’s stage banter included that he wanted the new album title to be “Too Dumb To Quit” - they went with “Washed Up” - and the irony is as strong as the humility both choices reflect. Robin Zander was in peak form last night, but I went with the one song that featured his son on lead vocal because he is so good and Downed sounded so sweet. They clearly continue to tour and release new music, 21 LPs in now, because they want to, and it shows. Sincerity is increasingly valuable and powerful and it makes every Cheap Trick show essential for me, playing songs I love, with love, out of love, casually kicking ass in ways few bands ever can or will. Make it happen when you can while you can.
