Novig set out to get noticed, and they certainly did.
Their new campaign with Sydney Sweeney racked up millions of views and quickly became the talk of the sports-tech world this month. At the same time, it drew strong criticism from top female athletes who said it relied on old stereotypes, objectifying women in a field where athletes have worked hard to put performance ahead of looks.
This has sparked a debate we’ve been following closely. Some people are comparing it to ESPN’s famous Body Issue, but context and intent matter. The Body Issue highlighted what elite athletes could do. In contrast, this campaign seems more like using celebrity status to promote something unrelated.
