The Knickerbocker Suite, a holiday classic ballet based on the original story by artist Elliott Arkin, is a timely tale of American values with New York City at its center. Act One opens with a satirical story that sets up a series of imaginative, contemporary visual scenarios and performers, reimagining the tradition of The Nutcracker. In Act Two, The Knickerbocker Suite weaves clever modern interpretations out of timeless scenes and dances, in which the Land of Sweets becomes the cultural cornucopia that is NYC. The arts, sports, fine dining, parks — even the pigeons — are magically intertwined with the appropriate Tchaikovsky movements, from Candy Canes to Coffee to Waltz of the Flowers and more, culminating in a grand finale that brings joy and great spirit to audiences young and old.

Today we began rehearsals for the 2021 production of our New York City Nutcracker: The Knickerbocker Suite! Every year, we are delighted to have our studios filled all day long with the sound of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker. We are looking forward to the next few months of rehearsals!
