I got bored and played with some old photos. Made me miss the groups of IGers going out and shooting, talking s**t about each other cameras because they were different brands and shaking our heads at non-photogs who just don’t get it. I’ve met some great photogs that are great people. When it’s safest to travel, I hope to link up with them again and meet some new people soon.

SWIPE LEFT: So this portrait was a happy accident. I was shooting in with a few photogs and their trigger set off my light right before I got my shot and one of three lights didn’t go off in my shot. It made a huge difference (as you can see if you swipe) but I actually like this dark, moody portrait. Which one do you like better?

Using a telephoto lens made this trail seem really small to me. It didn’t occur to me how long this trail was until I realized the three shapes at the top of the zig zag trail were hikers! Did you even notice them before you read this?

Gotta say thanks to for organizing the Revo/Brookfield Place event! I had been trying to get the entire Oculus in one shot for a while. Down on the ground it’s a bit difficult but from up above, it was a cinch! I waited for it to get dark so I could get that ethereal glow from the lights and I wasn’t disappointed!

A quick snap from my trip to Washington DC

Sometimes it’s frustrating when someone walks into your shot. Other times, you sit there on alert with your camera ready and waiting for someone to walk right into the spot you want them in. This shot is the latter, with my friend Chris Lord giving me perfect shadows of his legs. It was a great trip to Washington and I was glad to have to other photogs who can keep up with me!

On my last day in Oregon, I was told about a very steep climb that would lead to a beautiful waterfall. I was not wearing the right gear, I didn’t not have an inhaler and the ground was crumbling with every step. Through all that, the hike was worth it to see this secluded spot!

This year I spent my birthday a little differently than usual. I stood up for over 24 hours, purposely stood in “other than optimal” weather and crouched onto an extremely uncomfortable rock. It was one of the best birthdays ever! I forced myself in an unfamiliar setting with a type of photography I don’t shoot very often but that’s what was exciting about it. You don’t get to shoot many stars or mountains in Brooklyn!

My laptop is out of commission, so being by Adobe to test out Adobe Photoshop Lightroom for mobile app couldn't have happened at a better time. I've seen shots of the Tacocina sign but I figured if I went behind it, I could get the Williamsburg Bridge in the shot as well. After shooting, it was as simple as sending the photo to my phone, loading it to and using all of the same functions I'm used to when editing at my desktop. Give the app a try. If you already use Lightroom, you can have access to all of your presets. Even if you don't, everyone who takes the Adobe Photowalk and follows the rules has a chance to win prizes, including a drone!! There’s no purchase necessary to enter so make sure to enter by May 6th. Swipe left for step-by-step details on how I edited this shot and check out my stories for more examples. Check the rules below for entry details and let me know how you edit your photos on the go. For full rules go here: https://adobe.ly/2uK7c99 @ Tacocina

I know what you’re thinking. A shot from Washington DC but no cherry blossoms. If you know that shooting a cherry blossom shot is the go to shot, you know I’m gonna do the exact opposite. During my last day there the sunrise was great but a blanket of clouds came and was about to block the sun. While everyone was shooting the Washington Monument, I saw the shadows framing out Honest Abe. Since I already got a bunch of shots from the sunrise, I ran to get his shot before the clouds killed that warm light.

Been looking up for ceiling shots lately but it also helps to look down once in a while. The view of the Williamsburg Bridge from Domino Park is great during sunset but if it wasn’t for a shoe lace mishap, I would have never looked at the floor and noticed the “Domino” sign etched on the ground. It also gave me a chance to get my 10 Stop ND Filter out for my signature long exposures. So if you see me out there and my laces are untied, it’s a 50/50 chance I know!
