Seán is a 2026 Guggenheim Fellow!

What an honor. I am humbled to be included in this list of incredible artists. After many years of steadfast dedication to performing and making dance, this award both pays tribute to the journey that’s brought me to this point and gives me fuel to keep going.

Chosen through a rigorous application and peer review process from a pool of nearly 5,000 applicants, the Class of 2026 Guggenheim Fellows was tapped based on both prior career achievement and exceptional promise. Thank you, thank you Guggenheim Foundation and congratulations to the rest of the 2026 cohort!

Papa Seán caught SCCo Leading Dancers Evan Copeland and Maurice Dowell in their closing performance of The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay at The MET! The opera is brilliant, the production is magnificent and Evan and Maurice were marvelous in the many roles they played and danced! Bravi Tutti! So proud!

Seán had lunch with Shane Rutkowski on Saturday in NYC and Tony Guglietti (with future SCCo apprentice Nico), Jeff Rebudal and Heather Waldon at The Dance Complex in Cambridge, MA for the American College Dance Festival. STILL “Keeping Modern Dance safe” everywhere they go.

Happy Birthday Robert La Foss! 🥳 Larry Goldhuber hosted a BDay Brunch for Robbie fresh from a matinee Performance of ‘s Nutcracker where he has played Drosselmeyer for many years. John Kelly and Keely Garfield joined Seán in celebrating Mr La Foss dancer and legend!

Seán spoke with Qultur Vultur about returning to and the impact the space had on him as a young dancer ~

“It was the first time I saw a guy in tights, wearing a dance belt, this hunky, handsome jazz teacher. And it just blew my mind, it was me having a sexual awakening and a professional one as well. So, I found dance and theater, and that became my religion in a way, or the way I make sense out of a chaotic universe where bad things happen to good people, as I like to say.”
