In celebration of SCCo alum Peter Jones’ 40th year at Mount Holyoke the students of Mount Holyoke Dance Department will perform Sean Curran’s ‘Metal Garden’, which Jones premiered with SCCo in 2001 at the Joyce theater. Company member Gabriella Annalise Flanders spent last week restaging the work on the dancers, and it looks like they had a blast!

(Also visited by company member & rehearsal director Lauren Kravitz who is currently working on her MFA at Smith College)

New Project Alert ‼️
Seán Curran (Direction & Choreography) in collaboration with Andy Teirstein (Music) and Maggie Dubris (Libretto & Lyrics) presents Broke for a Limited Engagement Run on Theater Row.

BROKE is an evocative love song to St. Clare’s—the legendary, perpetually underfunded, yet unfailingly compassionate Hell’s Kitchen hospital that served New York City’s most vulnerable populations when no other institution would. The narrative bridges an entire century through the parallel journeys of two fierce women claiming their agency in a male-dominated world.

September 17-20,2026 in Theater 4 on Theater Row

🎂 Seán is turning 65 — and we’re celebrating the only way we know how: by making more art. 💫

For decades, Seán Curran has moved us, challenged us, and reminded us why live, contemporary dance matters. Now, in honor of his 65th birthday, we’re inviting 100 friends to join us in giving back.

Our goal: raise $6,500 by the end of the month to power our upcoming season — including the creation of a brand-new work born from Seán’s boundless imagination. ✨ Whether Seán has touched your life inside the studio or out, your gift keeps his vision — and this art form — alive and thriving.

👉 Donate $65 today and become part of the next chapter. Every dollar brings a new movement to life. 💛

Seán is a 2026 Guggenheim Fellow!

What an honor. I am humbled to be included in this list of incredible artists. After many years of steadfast dedication to performing and making dance, this award both pays tribute to the journey that’s brought me to this point and gives me fuel to keep going.

Chosen through a rigorous application and peer review process from a pool of nearly 5,000 applicants, the Class of 2026 Guggenheim Fellows was tapped based on both prior career achievement and exceptional promise. Thank you, thank you Guggenheim Foundation and congratulations to the rest of the 2026 cohort!
