500 Live Streams!
Congratulations to all, we are so excited to share that we have reached 500 live streams!
Like many, when the live music industry shut down we were devestated. We tried this thing called live streaming, it started with 3 performances and has since evolved to a little over 500 performances in 48 cities across North America.
From living room sets to garage performances we have seen it all, and we couldn't be more proud!
Here's to 500 more!

We are so pleased to announce that this year, FMO has the support of a record number of sponsors and partners! That’s right, it takes a whole lot of help to make a conference like ours happen each year. A huge THANK YOU to:
ACTRA RACS: has been supporting FMO in various capacities over the years, but this year they sponsored the 2nd Annual Recording Artist of the Year Awards and a panel! We couldn’t be happier to have them as a partner. Thanks for your support!
Folk Music Canada
Who could ask for a better partner? We’ve been working together in many different ways since FMC’s inception. This year, we’re proud to co-present Folk North Export Development Program. FMO also presented TWO sponsored showcases, and TWO panels!
Canadian Federation of Musicians, AFM Local 1000 and the Toronto Musicians' Association - Local 149 of the A.F. of M
Unions play such an important part of our industry! They are also great resources and partners for us and our delegates. Thanks for your supporting !
Knox Hutchison Entertainment Insurance:
Knox Hutchison is back for their 2nd year as a partner. They bring years of entertainment insurance to the table, which given the makeup of our community, is invaluable. Thanks for your support this year!
Hey gang,
Kev Corbett here, your Canadian VP.
We're banging through a pile of business here at our 2-day annual Board meeting at the Folk Alliance in Montreal. There's a lot to figure out, a lot of legalese, but some things are just beautifully simple. This is one.
1) Visit on Instagram.
2) Follow us so we can follow you back, so you can creep our stats and follow each other, take note of new gigs, etc. Solidarity, right?
We promise to ❤ your posts every chance we get, occasionally🤘, hashtag (ask me, it's a thing we're working on, having to do with working conditions in your town).
K, that's it. HiSorryThanks for the interruption. Love ya.
Love,
The Board
Beginning this month, approximately half of our members will hear a new voice when they receive their annual birthday call, as Tim Van Egmond joins me on the “birthday bunny” team. Tim is a hammered dulcimer player, storyteller and dance caller based in Montague, MA. He performs solo, as half of the duo Yankee Notions, and with the contradance band Swallowtail.
Tim has been a Local 1000 member since 2007. Membership in the Local, he says, “puts me in touch with a big network of colleagues and friends for mutual support, with the opportunity to compare notes and get help with problem-solving.” Thanks, Tim, for making this commitment to help your union.
