Hupstate Circus Festival Day 4 - Circus Kids Day
And of course I ended it with ice cream and a waterfall!
Thanks to all our team, artists, and audiences for your energy, your art, and your heart. That's the only way a festival like this happens, and happens so spectacularly. What an amazing thing we all did!

Hupstate Circus Festival 2026 Day 2

We're just getting started! Hupstate Circus Festival 2026 Day One was full of reunions, connections, and revelations. Hundreds of people have already found their way to at least one festival show, and some of us caught the whole schedule! Today, we go even bigger.

Hard at work planning for this year's Hupstate Circus festival, and this sweet memory video popped up from when I led the Waterfall Walk and All Things Circus Zone at the 2024 festival! Very excited to be back making circus with special people (and special waterfalls) in a few days. Join us in Ithaca, NY September 4th-7th

Photos are here! These are just a few of the stunning pictures Mikhail Lipyanskiy captured at Wild Arts Collective Jam Jam. I am forever grateful to Kyle Breen and Amelia Modlin for the gift that is this community. The production photos are what the world sees, but those last two... our huddle of aerialists, and getting to flower print a bandana... those quiet moments of being in community and making art... that's what it's about.

Wild Arts Collective 's Jam Jam was absolutely everything this weekend! What you can't see in these videos are the amazing friends, the wonderful offerings of nourishment and art in so many forms, the perfect, starfilled sky, and the soft warmth of gathering around a fire. What you can see is the joy, wonder, and awe that a group of people like this creates. I am forever grateful to get to share it.

The rig is up! BIG thank you to Jenny Kinzel and Joshua Lee (aka Sweet and Sour Circus) for lending a hand... well, four hands really. I'm so grateful to get to be in community with you. Backyard Circus is officially open! 🌞

This is one of my favorite pictures of me coaching. It was taken during the summer of 2009, when I was working with the Amazing Grace Circus. Mr. Amazing pitched Moody Street Circus 's tent right next to the river in Nyack, and we ran camp in the tent during the day, and had rehearsals for the Teen Troupe's Big Top Tent Show in the evenings. That summer threw endless challeneges at us... and we made something pretty incredible. That's the magic of circus. In this picture I was coaching Marui Lavinder through a new drop, wearing my famous circus pants

Two gig day! Same trick, different points of view.
I was lucky enough to spend my morning at Ridge Hill for their Little Explores Ice Cream Social (yes, a gig with ice cream 🍨!) with Cirque Du Jour 🎪, and my evening at the Yonkers Police Department event for National Night Out with Westchester Circus Arts. The day was full of soapy smiles from end to end. Thank you all for having me!

Second video by Devyn Ciccio. I'm so grateful for the bird's eye/stilt walker's view!
