In 2005, while I was loading in my first Broadway show, I got to sit down with Adam Feldman and talk all about it. Last month, I got ot sit down with him again and talk about the 24 Broadway shows that have happened since. We took a deep dive on the process of designing Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen,Beetlejuice The Musical, Pee-wee Herman, and of course the 3 from this season- Alex Edelman's Just For Us, The Who's Tommy Musical and my beloved Here Lies Love.

STACKED OSCARS
Ethereal, ghostings of an idea. I love how these Oscars feel like a whole new take on a much-beloved silhouette, refracting light and glowing from within. When creating new versions of the most famous trophy in the world, you have to honor the original shape and then GO FOR IT.

TRIANGLES
Stark in their beauty, these powerful shapes define the act with their color and subtle Oscar logo-themed iconography. Making a bold statement with line and architectural gestures, these triangles create a kinetic environment for performers and presenters to interact with.

SPIRAL OSCARS
I was hoping the spiral statues would feel like a real piece of poetry in motion, frozen in time, a brand new way to visit a classic shape.

SWAROVSKI DOME AND SPHERES
Created to cut against the warmth of the other acts, the SWAROVSKI dome and spheres are custom built as the center piece of our sparkly blue act. Made with unique flat crystals, these energetic pieces are rigged to fly and delight. A combined total of 12,940 crystals and 252 strands went into making them, weighing in at a whopping 1,350 pounds. Strands hang freely from a single point on the I-beam shape and are faced with 450 feet of LED tape, accentuating their beauty and reflecting light.

THE WAVE
A whimsical marriage of masculine and feminine. I love the way this piece feels like it’s in motion, pushing us forward to new beginnings. The wave embodies so many themes of the evening- it's architectural, soft, poetic, organic, and adorns the stage like a piece of jewelry.

Announcement: I’ve been named the Theater Designer in Residence for TED. As the 1st of several collaborations, I designed our return to in person conferences. The theme, A CASE FOR OPTIMISM, gave me a chance to unveil a new idea I had to evolve the iconic TED “red circle” from a solid carpet to a more forward thinking RED RING OF LIGHT. My hope is to honor where the brand has been, meet the world where we are today & help show a path towards where we are going as a culture. Can't wait to show you the next design we are doing. ⭕️
