Artist's statement:
On my last trip out West I fell in love with the land, the barns, the expanse, the awe and sublime landscape of our country. I returned to NYC and started exploring the iconic symbol of barns that populate the landscape throughout our country. Barns symbolize our past and present, they vary from region, and embody the soul of this country. Before embarking on this new work,
my paintings were abstract, primarily fabric based with elements of landscape. Once I fell under the spell of Western landscape and the proud horses that inhabit it, the leap to landscape painting felt like destiny. Through the landscape I explore my romance with color and paint. I am continually surprised by the magical process of the transformative act of painting.
