"Sir! Don't get on that helicopter! Your wife planted a bomb inside!" I roared, my lungs burning as I bolted across the pristine grass, blood pouring heavily from my fractured nose.
My expensive tailored shirt was soaked in crimson, my cowboy hat barely clinging to my head. I had barely escaped their underground cage alive to deliver this warning.
The billionaire froze, his hand resting on the sleek black chopper's door handle. He slowly turned around, his eyes widening in complete shock.
But his wife didn't hesitate. Her face twisted into an ugly, furious sneer as she pointed an aggressive finger straight at me. "What the hell are you talking about, you crazy stable boy? Go back to the barns where you belong!" she shrieked, her voice cracking with sudden desperation.
The elite guards stepped forward, their hands reaching inside their suits for their weapons. Everything inside me screamed to run, but I stood my ground, wiping the stinging blood from my lips.
"If you don't believe me, sir," I gasped, looking the billionaire dead in the eye, "ask her to get on that chopper with you right now."
Silence fell over the lawn, suffocating and heavy, broken only by the aggressive, rhythmic thud-thud-thud of the spinning helicopter blades.
The billionaire turned his gaze slowly toward his wife. "Eleanor... get in. Let's fly together."
The woman’s arrogant composure shattered in a millisecond. Her jaw dropped, her pupils dilating in pure, unadulterated terror as she backed away from the cockpit. She didn't look at her husband. Her icy, sociopathic glare was locked entirely on me.
My heart pounded furiously against my ribs as a sudden, intense shockwave of adrenaline surged through my body. She wasn't just panicked because her murder plot had failed. She was staring at the blood dripping from my nose—and how it was violently bubbling and sizzling the exact moment it touched the green grass.
Her skin began to warp slightly under the harsh sunlight, liquefying to reveal a smooth, featureless porcelain-like texture underneath.
She wasn't trying to kill her husband for an inheritance. The entity wearing his wife's face let out a layered, metallic laugh that echoed over the roar of the engine.
