We thank our guests, panelists, the Professors and the writers and the librarian, the partners, the behind the scenes workers, the translators, the poets, the audiences, the fans, the organizers like Director of Fabio Finotti and Maria Ida Gaeta, curator of this festival. Meet our guest, Paolo Pecere, a writer and professor of History of Philosophy at the University of Roma Tre. In 2024, he has been Fellow at the Italian Academy of Advanced Studies at Columbia. His research ranges from early modern to contemporary philosophy, natural science, psychology and ethnology. His books include: La filosofia della natura in Kant (2009), Dalla parte di Alice. La coscienza e l’immaginario (2015), Soul, Mind and Brain from Descartes to Cognitive Science. A Critical History (Springer 2020). He published two novels (La vita lontana, 2018; Risorgere, 2019) and the narrative essays Il dio che danza. Viaggi, trance, trasformazioni (nottetempo 2021) and Il senso della natura. Sette sentieri per la Terra (Sellerio 2024; spanish transl. by Editorial Anagrama).

You will see this name a lot in the years to come.
Gabriella Dal Lago is a writer and novelist with a background in contemporary Italian literature, creative writing and curatorial practices. Her writing practice draws from various fields, including theatre, stand-up comedy, art writing, and content writing for social media.  She co-founded CampoBase, a curatorial collective active from 2019 to 2022, which organized exhibitions, residencies, and discussions across Italy and Europe.

Her articles and interviews have been featured in Vogue, Lucy sulla cultura, Rivista Studio, and L’Indice dei libri del mese. She has also contributed to exhibition catalogs and published short stories in Italian and international magazines. She has participated in residencies, including Art Omi: Writers and the Venice Biennale Archive Residency.

Her latest novel, Estate Caldissima, was published by 66thand2nd in 2023, followed by her essay Le più brave. Competizione e sorellanza tra le prime della classe, released by Einaudi in 2024.

Hello to .

Michael Frank’s essays, articles, and short stories have appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Atlantic, Slate, The Yale Review, Salmagundi, The TLS, and Tablet, among other publications, and his fiction has been presented at Symphony Space’s Selected Shorts: A Celebration of the Short Story. He served as a Contributing Writer to the Los Angeles Times Book Review for nearly eight years.

Frank is the author of What Is Missing, a novel, and The Mighty Franks, a memoir, which was awarded the 2018 JQ Wingate Prize and was named one of the best books of the year by The Telegraph and The New Statesman. Selected as one of the ten best books of 2022 by The Wall Street Journal, One Hundred Saturdays received a Natan Notable Book Award, two National Book Awards from the Jewish Book Council, and the Sophie Brody Award for outstanding achievement in Jewish literature.

A 2020 Guggenheim Fellow, Frank lives in New York City and Camogli, Italy.

We are very happy to have a new voice in our afternoon panel.

Anita Likmeta is a writer and entrepreneur, born in Durrës, Albania, during the communist regime of Enver Hoxha, and later naturalized as an Italian citizen. After the civil war of 1997, she left her homeland and moved to Italy, where she completed her classical education and graduated in Literature and Philosophy.

In 2021, she was recognized as one of Europe’s “Inspiring 50” by Corriere della Sera. From 2020 to 2023, she served as Ambassador for Connect Albania under IOM – UN Migration.

Le favole del comunismo, published by Marsilio, marks her debut as a novelist.

Meet our guests. This afternoon we will have an Italian writer from Japan!

Laura Imai Messina is born in Rome but she moved to Tōkyō at 23 where she studied Comparative Literature.

Novelist, academic and author of children's books, Laura is translated in more than 30 countries.
In 2020 she published Quel che affidiamo al vento for and L’isola dei battiti del cuore in 2022.

She published with the book Goro while her last novel is Tutti gli indirizzi perduti (2024, ).

She works with the Japanese radio and TV NHK and she is a Professor of Italian Language and Culture in Japan.
