First there was Singer Spotlight, what we named my nights at the duplex, because my feature was showcasing great singers, giving them a place to try out new things and net work, and letting the customers hear unbelievable,diverse artistry And that went way back to 1991, t” before a lot of our current Broadway royalty got where they are. so on a given Monday or Thursday we would have Billy Porter, Norm Lewis,Capathia Jenkins , Dennis Stowe, Darius DeHass and so many others .it was a very special time in place.
I had the best people working with me, Bill, Morgan, and Susan, Campanaro, and Maria Gentile, That continued on with new people making Monday and Thursday nights. Their home in between national tours, and Broadway shows. We all have different things. We are proud of, and I am proud of cultivating that for so many years
For a year after the pandemic, I wanted a different type of show, less general party people , more music -lovers so I moved it upstairs and called village spotlight that had a wonderful sweet run until unfortunately that upstairs theater had to close.  I still see that there is room for a space where the focus is the music. Lots of chances for networking, but also in general -not people talking over the singing. why would you even want to!We want to hear everything you have to sunt and I make it very participatory.
WELL GREATNEWS::: we’re bringing back a new version of a wonderful old thing. This time we were holding it upstairs on stage at the Stonewall.
For now, the schedule is the first Monday of every month from 9 PM until 1 AM and if you can believe it no cover charge! And it’s not just for singers it’s for people who want to listen to great singing also. A real New York night. We want you to enjoy it. It will be a win-win!

Village Spotlight had the most incredible " every thing old is new again "June! Thanks to the regulars and talented new comers it exceeded our expectation!! From Darius : Take A Bow!Village Spotlight Family is doing things. Caught @kristyn_comma_@ the in a tremendous piece of theater called The Civility of Albert Cashier. Kristyn was the title character, with all of the vocal and acting layers. The final performance had that special energy, more so because of the heart and energy in the piece.
