If you've been outside braving the haze this week, you may have noticed that .bulfamantelandscaping was out in the district. Our end beds in the Broadway Malls and planters throughout the district now have new seasonal displays. The crews also removed and replaced dozens of spent shrubs in the Broadway Malls. Our summer displays are always beautiful, and we hope you enjoy seeing the colorful flowers and healthy shrubs as you walk through the neighborhood. Thank you to Greenacre Foundation and our other supporters who make this important work possible!

We know that many people were upset when Indie Food & Wine closed earlier this year. That’s why we are happy to report that Indie Food & Wine has reopened as The Independent Cafe at Lincoln Center's David Rubenstein Atrium (61 W 62nd St). We are so happy that this beloved Lincoln Square business was able to reopen in the neighborhood.

Despite the new name and location, the cafe is serving up the same fresh and delicious food you know and love, prepared and served by the same warm and friendly staff. You can order breakfast all day, salads, sandwiches, snacks, sides, desserts, hot beverages, soft drinks, and wine, too.

is currently open from 9am to 4pm, Tuesday through Saturday. Make sure you stop by and welcome them back to the neighborhood!

Lincoln Square is home to many amazing restaurants, but two in our district deserve a lot of praise for being named on The New York Times 2023 list of The 100 Best Restaurants in New York City. Tatiana by Chef Kwame, the new restaurant in David Geffen Hall, was named the Number 1 restaurant, while Jean-Georges Restaurant was named Number 13. This is a huge accomplishment for both of these restaurants and a true testament to the quality of businesses in our neighborhood. We would also like to congratulate Camelot on Broadway, which is on stage at Lincoln Center Theater, for receiving five Tony nominations this week. If you haven't booked your reservations or purchased your tickets yet, do so ASAP. We have a lot to be proud of in Lincoln Square!

WOW! Last night our WinteRamble, led by Processional Arts Workshop and the Frost Giants, meandered around Lincoln Square with countless community members to welcome in the winter solstice. The ethereal sounds of J.C. King’s Kalimbascope accompanied this beautiful sight. So many people along the route stopped to watch and marvel at what we were doing and took lots of photos and videos. Before our procession began, participants created their own mini paper lanterns to help illuminate the parade in a workshop at TD Bank at 1873 Broadway. It was a true family-friendly event that was fun for all ages. What a wonderful triumph!

It's not too late to join the BID's WinteRamble. Bring your friends and neighbors to help light up Lincoln Square!

Come ring in the winter solstice by joining the WinteRamble - an illuminated community procession of Frost Giant puppets and icicle lanterns led by Workshop. The procession steps off in front of 1886 Broadway (between 62nd St and 63rd St) at 5:00pm and meanders through the Lincoln Square neighborhood until 6:00pm on Wednesday, December 21, to the ethereal sounds of J.C. King’s Kalimbascope, a rolling ensemble of acoustically-enhanced thumb pianos.

There are 3 ways to participate: Volunteer to carry a crystalline icicle lantern, create your own mini-lantern for the procession in the pop-up workshop (3:00 – 5:00 pm), or join the Kalimbascope (no experience required).

Everyone is welcome to take part in this family-friendly event or just watch and follow along as we celebrate winter’s arrival together.

To volunteer or get details, including the location, about the pop-up workshop, RSVP through our online sign-up in the

After 20 wonderful years, over two years ago, the Lincoln Square BID decided to say farewell to Winter’s Eve – our one-day holiday event. The pandemic gave us the chance to reassess our programming and develop a more robust month-long series of holiday festivities, including a traditional tree lighting, expanded lighting along Broadway, free outdoor performances, and other family-friendly experiences.

More details on the BID’s 2022 holiday program, Lights Up, will be announced shortly. In the meantime, save the date: Monday, December 5th, at 5:00pm, for our Tree Lighting at Dante Park.

Well, that’s a wrap! From January 21 through April 28, KMC presented in partnership with the Alphadyne Foundation, bringing live music back to NYC at a time when it seemed impossible. 31,200 passers-by stopped to watch 107 concerts providing work to 202 musicians.
