LUMINOUS WHEELS RESTOCK!

A new shipment of our most popular light up wheels just landed this weekend, so roll on by and pick up a set! A variety of colors are available! They are great for skating in the evening, at the rink, or any time you want your skates to POP! Most wheels are 62mm 85A hybrid wheels suitable for general/casual skating on most surfaces, so whether you skate outside after work or indoors at the rink on the weekends, the wheels will be fine. We also have a few smaller, harder wheels (58mm 97A or 100A) more suited for dance/jam skating at the rink!

Roll by the shop to pick up a set! And if we don't have them in the colors that you want, we can always order them for you!

Join us for Skate Movie Night!

This month's film is Whip It, a 2009 comedy-drama film co-produced and directed by Drew Barrymore from a screenplay based on Shauna Cross' 2007 novel Derby Girl. The film stars Elliot Page as a teenage girl from a small fictional town in Texas, who joins a roller derby team. The film also stars Marcia Gay Harden, Kristen Wiig, Juliette Lewis, Jimmy Fallon, and Daniel Stern.

We will screen the movie at the skate shop on Saturday, September 26, from 6:30pm-8:30pm. It's free and open to all ages. The film is rated PG-13.

Complimentary popcorn and bottled water will be available; BYO snacks. There will be two benches to sit on, and an area rug up front to lay on if you prefer. You can also bring your own comfy chair. Space is limited; come early to reserve your spot.

Future films and shows will range from lighthearted fantasies to serious documentaries, all with a connection to skating. We hope that you can join us!

Join us for Skate Movie Night!

This month's film is United Skates, a 2018 documentary about roller rink culture. "When America’s last standing roller rinks are threatened with closure, a community of thousands battle in a racially charged environment to save an underground subculture--one that has remained undiscovered by the mainstream for generations, yet has given rise to some of the world’s greatest musical talent."

Lace up your skates and join us outdoors on the Windward side for a Summer Skate! With the summer season here and nice weather aplenty, here's your excuse to skate outside! So bring your friends and your skates over to the Windward side on July 25 from 5pm-8pm for an all-ages meetup at Enchanted Lake Community Park in Kailua! This free event is open to all ages, genders, and skill levels. Sometime before sunset, Melissa will lead a trail skate along the Keolu Drive bike path; you can also stay at the park and groove to the musical jams provided by ! Skate at your own risk. Summer is here! Sunny days and great weather are some of the perks of living in Hawaiʻi! Whether you are a park skater, dance skater, street skater, or just like to casually roll around your local neighborhood to get some sunshine and exercise, it's a good time to go outside and skate!

As you roll through the summer skate season, consider giving your skates a refresher with some new laces, toe stops, or some outdoor wheels! Or maybe even consider gifting yourself a second pair for skating outside, and keeping your old pair and putting indoor wheels on them for the occasional rainy day when you have to go skating at the local skate rink!

THIS IS WHY YOU SHOULD SHOP LOCAL

A customer came in looking for light up wheels to give her Rainbow Rider Moxi Roller Skates a fresh look. Not only did she get a new set of Luminous Wheels , but she added some FoMac dance plugs by Suregrip Roller Skates and locally made crocheted toe caps by Just b hawaii . And we helped her install them on to her skates so that she's all set and ready to roll at the Sk8 Ambitions Friday Night Takeover later that evening!

We answered all of her questions and made the whole process so much easier, more fun, and more educational (since we taught her how to change out her wheels and equipment on her own for next time).
