Today is the last day to bid on my paintings in the Yorktown100 auction! This painting is part of a mountain series inspired by my love for mountain views, hiking and Yorktown’s Turkey Mountain.

This painting called “Sunset” is a nod to both my parents who both died way too early. They never got to meet my children or walk me down the aisle. They weren’t there when I bought my first home. My dad never saw me graduate college or get my first full time job. And yet, they’ve been with me all these years. They both instilled in me a love for sunsets. When the sun would lower and fill the sky with color, they would gasp and demand we all stop what we were doing to appreciate its glory. Those close to me know I’m not a morning person. I have few and foggy memories of sunrise. But at sunset, I’m fully awake and I remember each sunset like I’m flipping through a card catalog.

I am auctioning it off to benefit CURE100.org and Yorktown100 as they work to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2040 here in NY.

Those that know me well are aware that my emotions aren’t linear. They rise and fall from sadness to elation and back again without warning. This piece is “Early Spring,” and captures with complete precision my elation.

It was fitting then, that I chose this piece to be auctioned off to benefit CURE100.org and their plan to completely eliminate carbon emissions in the state of NY by 2040. It’s exhibition day! I’m full of emotion and can’t put it in words. I’ll leave it at that. So grateful for all that have supported me during this time. But especially who has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to get up and running. I hope to see all my local friends here today!
