👍 M.O.P. / ❤️ Onyx
M.O.P. (Mash Out Posse) embodied hardcore aggression with Ante Up. Billy Danze and Lil’ Fame’s intensity made them cult street favorites.
Onyx, with Sticky Fingaz and Fredro Starr, delivered bald-headed rowdy anthems like Slam. Their gritty, grimy energy defined early 90s hardcore.
Comparison: M.O.P. specialized in street anthems; Onyx pioneered hardcore rap’s rowdy aesthetic. Both made aggression an art form.
Questions:
Who had the more iconic anthem: Slam or Ante Up?
Could aggression like this succeed in today’s scene?
Who influenced hardcore rap more?
