BEFORE & AFTER: Some subtle Soulkeeper restoration! Originally created by KNB EFX for the 2001 horror movie, the latex mask became fragile over time which required some patching and in-painting. Congrats to our friend Rick Baker as the recipient of the upcoming 2026 Locarno Film Festival honorary Vision Award which recognizes his pioneering work in makeup effects. It's the 34th anniversary of Tim Burton's Batman Returns! We created a clear vacuformed support from a Danny DeVito lifecast for these production-used makeup appliances. The spiral and stone-look base emulate visual elements from the Penguin's umbrella and underground lair to provide context for this custom display. The moonlight shows us what we really are...a custom display for a client's cursed Aztec coin necklace replica from 2003's Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. As big Disney theme park fans, this really felt like a dream project from the aged wooden deck plank to the skeletal pirate's hand.
