En viu is delighted a new collaboration with ACDO for a private residence in South Florida.
Created in collaboration with Belgian weaving studio KRJST, ‘Solitude Had Chosen Its Memories’ is a triptych of monumental handwoven tapestries, measuring 21 × 14 feet in total. Conceived as a poetic study of the mangrove ecosystem, the work draws from the textures of bark, tidal reflections, and the subtle presence of flora and fauna.
Through a nuanced interplay of weaving and embroidery, the tapestries reveal birds, insects, and organic forms that hover between figuration and abstraction, unfolding gradually through sustained looking.
Over six months of close collaboration, En Viu’s hand-drawn sketches were translated by KRJST’s master weaving techniques into sculptural surfaces. Copper, silk, mohair, wool, linen, raffia, polymer, lurex, and cotton threads interlace in layered gestures, creating depth and relief.
The palette moves through warm ambers, ochres, copper, and cream, punctuated by luminescent silks and metallic threads that shift with the light. Receding waterways and filtered sunlight introduce a quiet sense of distance and atmosphere.
Rooted in the traditions of weaving and close observation of nature, the triptych embraces contemporary materials and techniques to create a space for reflection—inviting the viewer into a suspended world where past and present weave together in contemplation and wonder.
